Best Post of this silly thread.

Having experienced south AL, I dont think Hoover would trounce Maryville, I would put some money on the Rebels more than I would Hoover, there are some good teams down here, but nothing much more than the Riverdale's Germantown's, DB's etc couldnt handle...

other than Hoover, and a couple others most AAAAAA schools down here are about the size of AAAAA in TN, there 5A down here is about the size of our 4A, there 3 and 4A are about the size of our 3A..

dont forget Bama is about a million and a half less people than the Volunteer state.. A lot about Hoover is in the printing press, say what you want, but they are the same age as people in high school halls across this great country..

I couldnt say for sure who would win, personally I think it would be a close game..

I dont think Maryville, Oak Ridge, Riverdale, and Dobyns-Bennett combined could beat Hoover. Remember on TV, is just a short glimpse of what really happens. The cameras dont show everything. Theyre not in the top 5 for no reason. They stopped Tim Tebow pretty handedly, something a lot of SEC teams are having trouble with. Just like Coach Propst said I would like to see a team beat us right now.

Just like Coach Propst said I would like to see a team beat us right now.

The key to that quote was right now. Bold statement after the facts, since they got their butts handed to them earlier in the season, and knowing that there was no chance of playing any other teams that year.

You TV groupies need to get off of their jock and base things on fact. Unless the two teams play all you can do is speculate. If you think their players were so great them why didn't any of them go D1 "well at least know of the stars portrayed in the series. The best they did was D-IAA. Hmmm teams around here do that.

Great players don't make great teams. Coaching, chemistry, player leadership, team play, etc. make great teams. And the number of D1 scholarships is no indicator of a quality team either. How many D1 kids did De La Salle produce during their streak of 150 wins? A fraction of those produced by their opponents!

    • Never said I thought it was a smart decision. I'm scratching my head at it too.
    • If he wanted to play QB he should have either went to Heritage or William Blount and had a real good chance there. In stead he'll be exactly what he was going to be at Maryville. They already know who their QB is going to be in 2025 and it ain't going to be him.
    • Easier said than done. The man who ran for 250+ yards and 3TDs is gonna be back….and a lot bigger.
    • plus it removes the pressure around winning.
    • You are correct.   The teacher's pay scale is virtually the same in Knox County, now, as it is at Oak Ridge.   The coaching supplements are still higher at Oak Ridge, from what I was told, but not a huge difference.   Plus, Rusty is going from a position coach to an OC position, which is what he was at South Doyle and where his comfort zone is.  And from a special education teaching slot to a PE teaching slot.  There is a lot of positivity in that move without even considering the coaching aspect.   Anybody who sees something negative here is just looking for negativity to begin with.  But some live in that world.   Really good hire for Brent.  He now has two experienced and quality coordinators and can concentrate on being a head football coach.
