Moore County

I dont think M C has the same juice as Riverdale. totally different athletes. What type players do you need?

Moore County also doesn't play against teams with the same "juice" as Riverdale does. As far as the wing-t, it is designed for a team with small, yet fast players. Without speed the wing-t is a poor offense, as is all others. Their are many variations of the wing-t, which many people do not understand. The true wing't requires many angle blocks and roll-out bootlegs. This is to take advantage of the above mentioned small, quick linemen. Many coaches do not take advantage of the many options available in the wing-t. Trips, shotgun formations, and many other formations can be utilized while still using the same terminology and blocking schemes in the offensive line.

All the pop warner teams run it and most of the county think the wing-t is the only offense there is. I think that is why many coaches would not apply to coach in Moore County. Mac does"t even run it any more. I dont think he even did it at Marshall C.

Mac has run the wing t to 21 wins the past two years and a birth in state semi-finals.

I was wandering the same thing as vols4me. I was told that they were about ready to announce a coaches name before coach Flatt got involved. What happened to the coach they were going to announce? Has he got tired of waiting and moved on? Did he get ticked because Flatt walked in and stole the show? I also agree with Blueboy about the wing-t, I don't think anybody really cares what kind of offense the new coach runs as long as he treats the players with respect and can win football games.

    • Yeah I am on board and plan on coming down from the Ridge for some home games, great Friday night atmosphere there.  I'm really hoping SC can get them back going and have some success for those fans and community.
    • Yep I was field level on the scoreboard end throwing ball with Benny when we had that brief lead. Everybody got very excited but it was short lived as Murvil regrouped and went into machine mode. But yeah,  that hit sounded like the crack of a black powder rifle being fire.  I believe Dozier took one like that as a Soph up at Greeneville after on olay block.
    • Ole Benny boy lol. I forgot about Harder. He was tough as crap. He graduated in ‘09. I went to the OR/Maryville game that year (great game, btw) and he collided with Jacob West (I think was his name) and you could hear it clearly at the top of the visitor bleachers. Man, it was a stick. He could lay some wood son. All those guys were tough, Elliott included.
    • They do have good community support for sure and did when I coached under Z for 4 years. (I was on that staff that turned them around a little from winning 1 game a year to actually being competitive).  Great Kids and Great Community over there.  They have done some good things with the facilities from when i coached too.
    • I personally will not mind that one bit.  It seems like a really strange fit to me from the git go.
