well best of luck doing that, 12 have tried - 12 have failed

Isn't that kina what the playoffs are for? facing a better team each week who might can do what the other teams before them couldn't? Milan hasn't exactly been run all over this year either. Just keep thinking you're going to come to Johnnie Hale and run over the Dawgs. After all were just 8-5, How good can we be?

Ah, the chink in the armor shows up. If Milan can keep it close, which I'm not sure they can. And Milan may a good run defense, but how is it against a run offense with more than 4,000 yards rushing, 7 quality running backs who range from fast to blazin', averaging 8.5 yards per rush, running the wing-t where the back come at you from all directions????

Is that the type of run offense you're faced this year?

Ain't this fun.

Adrian Donald, and Kieth Wardlow, Chris Donald, Jarvis Perry and the Johnson Twins, Kendal Harper and Darius Norris from Peabody. We've faced some very very good backs. Edited by bulldawgs#1

i think you goodpasture and alcoa( who shouldn't even be on this thread) fans will be shockingly suprised before , during and after the game friday nite at johnnie hale. ya'll think this is gonna be a pushover' milan is ateam who has 4 gold balls, and been to the post season the last 26 years. they are use to these situations. great coaching and tradition goes a long way. goodpasture is agreat team and this game is gonna be close. 6 points or less that could go either way. tighten up you're chinstraps boys because it's gonna be a rough ride friday nite and could possibly be a long quiet ride back to nashville. no need for alcoa to comment .ya'll need to worry about smith county because it's obvious you're not.

Bulldawg, your name sounds fimiliar. You should atleast know by now. You should be smart enough to realize that Goodpasture is actually trying to take you seriously. This happens almost every week with Alcoa fans on our threads. It's hard to keep the "Goodpasture-Milan" thing going when you got someone talking about "We're Alcoa and we can beat the Patriots and we're number one in the nation" it's kind of hard to keep focus on the thread. Trust me if they would have beat ya'll last year it would be complete reverse. Good luck Friday. Maybe Smith Co. can use atleast a little motivation off of this.

who might i ask was that team?

That team he is talking about is Humboldt, the team that you might have been facing this week if not for a missed XP

Humboldt runs the Wing T with Mr. Football finalist Adrian Donald leading the group with close to 2000 yards on the season along with 30 tds in the strongest region in 2A top to bottom...Keith Wardlow was on the other side...Runs a 4.6 while benching over 350...Along with the Wing T, they also ran the spread offense (very similar to what West Virginia does)...Played with 2 QB's (one Wardlow, the other Will Roe, also a 4.6, much better throwing QB)...When they weren't running the ball, they'd throw it to EJ Epperson, likely all-state selection...At 6'4 215, every jump ball was his and once he got it, he was very difficult to bring down...

So, sounds tough to stop, right? Well, Milan held all of those weapons to just 22 points in 2 games...In the first game, they held Donald to 15 yards rushing...As a team, Humboldt only had 37 rushing yards that game...Humboldt was also very deep and experienced, both on the line and in the backfield and I would rather have Donald than all 7 of the Goodpasture backs (I watched Goodpasture play JPII this year in person so this isn't some blind Humboldt fan running his mouth about something he doesn't know about)...If you think you're going to waltz into Milan and beat Milan without your A game, then you're crazy...Milan is forreal...Their defense is loaded with size upfront and speed at the linebacker and DB position...This will be their second straight week seing the Wing T so don't expect it to look foreign to them...Also, something very few have mentioned...Milan is the best coached team remaining in the playoffs in 2A and if you don't think Coach Morris doesn't have something waiting for you, then GP is in for a rude awakening...Good luck to both teams Friday night

Another interesting stat...Adrian Donald, in 13 games this season, scored 30 tds...He scored in every game except for two...Can you guess which 2 games he didn't score in? Try Milan - Week 6...and Milan - Week 13...He was only held under 100 yards twice all season and one of those games was also against Milan...and if 22 points in 2 games isn't enough, take into consideration that if not for a very improbable fumble at the 1 yard line, Humboldt's offensive total in 2 games is only 9 points

I'm gonna try hoss. Good luck to ya'll if I cant get there though. I sure hope Morris has called in a consultant this week on "How to defend the Wing-T".

I have no idea what's going on this week. I usually hear something. I can't even get an injury report on one of our DB's that got carried off the field last week.

We got our hands full with a big line, big fullback, and many Rb's. It sounds like our team, but we don't have that many RB's or seniors. Oh well, we"re going to play it anyway and see what happens.

What a great day for Milan and all the West Tennessee teams playing at home this Friday. All the former players come home for Thanksgiving to watch the boys practice on Thursday and the "walk-through" on Friday. As a football fan this weekend reminds me how excited both Milan and GP are about this game. Huntingdon has reached the semi's 7 times and won only 3 of those times. Goodpasture knocked us out 3 of those 7 times.

I posted before that GP has a powerful team with an awesome running attack. They will lull you for a while with the off tackle power plays then do an inside reverse handoff and then they're off.. They are just a fundamentally sound team that makes very few mistakes. They killed us last year with several well disguised screen passes that changed field position in the second half.

Milan is well coached too. Morris has been in this spot several times and has the players to beat GP. I'm often amazed at the crowd noise when the Mustangs and Bulldogs play each other and I think that could be a factor for the Bulldogs. I think you'll see a rowdy crowd with most of them pulling for the Bulldogs.

Can the Bulldogs pull it off? You bet. This is the game I've been waiting to see since the playoffs began. I'll be there pulling for the "DAWGS"....

Your right about the crowd noise. The last two year we played Huntington in the playoffs, i was on the field. We could barley hear Lydale give us the play. I was on the offensive line and i couldn't even hear the cadence. We had to watch the ball just like the d-line. I really hope our crowd gets a little rowdy this Friday, maybe we can show these Middle TN fans how to yell. It really help as a player when you have a big wild crowd behind you. There is a lot to be said for momentum and the crowd can really help that.

Nice Post - Red 16

I like being in this underdog role this week. It is unusual but it is different. I mean the GP and Alcoa guys are already making plans for next Friday night. They might be right but the games still have to be played.

Congrats to your team for a great year. We are fortunate to still be playing this week and I am smart enough to know it.

    • It used to be, I think it still is, a change of 20% +/- gives reason to reclassify. Schools can choose to play up classifications but not down. Here is the mid cycle reclassification info on TSSAA.org When Memphis East changed from a regular public school to an "all-optional" school in 2017 the would've dropped to A but chose to stay in AAA in basketball (baseball, and softball) Penny was still coaching there and with the players they had they would've beaten A teams by 40 and slept walked to the championship. Other Memphis schools stayed in their classifications (mostly in basketball) until the next reclassification cycle. Of course this is the same time that a 4th class was added basketball.
