Our New db coach has been at our workouts and brought alot of energy to the kids.

Who is the new DB and where did he come from? Good to hear that he's bringing some energy.

Any idea on who is gonna be designated to update the 'official' website yet? It really needs it BAD!

Limbaugh said he had it...surely we'll see something soon. If nothing else get some information up on the temporary page.

What are the D-Line starting line ups going into summer......and what are you comments

Every good team starts with the d-line. Coming out of spring the DL looked like:

DE: Spurlock, Sumrall

DT: Verge, Tears

It will be a surprised if that doesn't change.

DE's in the 6-4, 280 range are pretty unusual and there were some other good looking prospects around in the spring. However, if Spurlock is fast enough for DE he should create a lot of matchup problems. Speed and recklessness are needed at DE. I won't be surprised to see Gander get a look at DE.

Miller should push for a starting role on the line...if he can stay healthy he will surprise a lot of people. Tinker will be playing somewhere. There was another big DT out there in the spring but he may be a year away still. West is going to play...Farley should become a factor this year. There really are a lot of guys who could play at DE.

One of the best things I saw in the spring was that some of the lesser known players (at least they were lesser known to me) seemed determined to get noticed and get on the field. I don't think there is a single player in the current starting d-line group that won't have to beat back a challenge from another player that wants his spot. That is a pretty good situation.

There were several players in the spring that had good days on the d-line but I don't know their names. The job for the defensive coaches will be to get the right groups out there....there seems to be plenty of talent.

    • Worst thing SC could do is get rid of Dyer. I agree with everything said above.
    • Jada Hart, Jasmine Bailey and Kaitlyn Patterson the first two being PG's are all good guards and can handle ball pressure and are good players. Raven Wells will be a good post. There were games this summer where any one of the one's I mentioned were in double figures. Gibson County will control TO's much better this year and they will press more and get back to playing faster. AA is down across the board. I have been all over watching ball. Alcoa jumped to AAA and Jackson County moved down. to A. No telling who wins it this year. I agree Union City, Westview and Gibson County will be a dogfight and must see basketball. Poster insuated that Gibson County has a mental block against Westview. Well give me Maddie Gray and we line up last year and they wouldn't have won a game. Let's see how Westview does this year. Their starting five last year had three transfers in it. Rogers from Obion, Trevathon from Greenfield and Gray from South Fulton. Looks like they swung and missed with the girl from Florida this year so let's see how they do playing with kids from Westview. Gibson County has a really good 7th grade class this year.I have done learned you play with what you got and work them hard and develop them and see what happens. Just keep battling and see what happens. I like our team this year. Very athletic. Every year is the same with injuries and can be catistrophic to any. I watched GC all summer long. South Side and GC was very evenly matched and was a classic war. Hope all stays healthy.
    • I think Gibson County is a top five team this next season but I do agree they will drop off a lot after this year.  Westview lost a ton and will be down this season and hopes of returning to glass house again is slim.  The run they have had is super impressive!
    • My take on GC for this year: Based on what I saw last year and heard this summer, I’m not sure GC could surprise me next year with any outcome. Wilkins is a great coach - they could win the district and region and go to Murfreesboro. They could also come in third in the district and not get out of region. The two returning starters are very talented but Guru is right that they didn’t always play hard last year. The other three starters are good enough in their roles for GC to be successful. There is no depth. Foul trouble could be a problem - Wilkins may avoid it by playing a lot of zone. An injury would be catastrophic. I hope they have a big year and Wilkins rides off into the sunset in Murfreesboro because, without some significant transfers, there are some tough years coming in the next few.
    • Daniel Boone coming down to 3A makes this much tougher. They added a couple transfers to the Flores girl. Cocke Co, Northview, Greeneville, and Daniel Boone - only two headed to Murfreesboro.
