Red Rebels
I think Maryville @ Alcoa on August 31, 2007 might be a good game.
ruse?
What games can you look foward to watching opening night? Over in the Knox/Blount there are two intriguing games. Hopefully one is on TV/Replay so I can catch the other live. 1st choice would be Maryville vs. Alcoa. 4A champs vs. 2A champs. 2nd choice would be Morristown West vs. Knox Catholic. 4A semifinalist vs. beats the state champs, but not in the playoffs:)

brosbaseball9
a game out west that wont be played on opening night, but rather the saturday night after, is the bridges kickoff classic matchup between the melrose golden wildcats and the Christian Brothers High School Purple Wave. im looking forward to this game as i believe it will be more exciting and will likely serve as a better barometer for both teams and their potential success later on in the season (or maybe lack thereof...ya never know.) than the other two games being played the same day/night. i would compare it, almost, to the miami vs. florida state matchup that will take place only a couple weeks later. its both teams first game. there are two storied programs battling it out in a great atmosphere in front of a big crowd, not to mention being able to watch A LOT of solid football players. im anxious to see how melroses defense responds to eric watson, who, in my opinion, made a lot of the melrose defenders look bad last season as well as a quarterback that is much more mobile than skinner was a year ago...in addition to how Christian Brothers' defense responds to the likes of the speedy holloway and the young quarterback that stepped in last season. (dont remember his name off the top of my head.)
