Morristown East vs Science Hill scrimmage Aug 10

Science Hill needs a lot of work, but they will get better.

Not sure if they can improve enough to win their conference. In fact, Dobyn Bennett will really need to be down for the hill to get them this year. Could be a fourth place team if conference is like normal.

Great crowd for scrimmage.

Good luck toppers.

Why don't you guys start an East vs. West thread. This is the wrong thread to keep talking about respect between the two programs. Let your play on the field do your talking.

P.S. Doesn't Morristown East have a state championship under their belt?

Yes, M-East won the first large school (AAA) playoff state title. I think it was in 1969.

How good, supposedly, is Science Hill?

That is the $64000 question in NET! Will they dominate or be typical SH team fighting for the fourth playoff spot? I was leaning towards dominate before tonight's scrimmage. After seeing it, I am not so sure. They scrimmage again early next week. The spread offense is based on timing; it will improve with reps. By week 10 against D-B, perhaps the Smith Spread will be in full gear. Stay tuned.

MO-East offense looked okay, they only have about 3 offensive plays. MO-East defense was okay too. Hard to tell, S-Hill kept playing against their selves. S-Hill needs an O-line, bad! S-Hill's defense looked solid for the most part. #44 for S-Hill is a man among boys.

I think both teams need a lot of work, especially S-Hill.

East RAN 3 plays, they have a few more than 3 in the book. The D was "ok"? Outside of 3 plays, SH lost yardage and #44 had a good scrimmage but he was definately not a "man among boys" because that means the boys burnt him for 2 scores. Way to be a homer and say they kept playing against themselves because east did the same but somehow won.

East's offense looks like it is more along than Science Hill's but it was a scrimmage, an glorified pratice so kids can get looks from another team. Science Hill lost most of the yards with the qb-center exchange as there were errant and mishandling of snaps. I also find it hard to believe that Science Hill went into their playbook too far but the offensive line had it's problems. To be fair, I'm think East had some to do with it, along with the heat but that's been a concern since last spring. I believe that the offense will get there.

Science Hill defense looked good not great but good. It's hard to face veers when your not seeing it a lot. I'm sure that in the grand scheme of things that gameplanning this scrimmage is not in the forefront of anyones mind. East has some nice speed and quickness in it's skill positions. If Science Hill had wrapped up on tackles in the backfield, their grade would have been higher. East looked very good on defense. They tackled well and put great pressure on the qb which allowed their dbs to be in great position the whole affair. I believe the heat took it's toll. I hope the East receiver that got folded up on the underthrown pass is okay.

East done a good job of executing but their offense seemed to be as one dimensional as Science Hill's, at this scrimmage. With SOME passing abillity, East would be down right scary. They are also gonna have to get that pitch down too as alot of them hit the ground. I see why the enthusiasm is so high at East. I think both teams will continue to improve and should have great years. I'm glad that both teams walked away without serious injuries.

I agree with your assessment, but my problem with this thread is we build up a scrimmage and a team and then the scrimmage goes South as far as expectations and now scrimmage is meaningless. Not saying you were that way topvol but so many posters on here were. East was tough last year and they got better every week because their system was new and they are going to be very tough this year. Hope it works out the same way for the Toppers

I think Topvol98 has call it right on the head. Both teams had their moments, Morristown East Defense looked great

most of the scrimmage. The offense is not one dimensional, they can throw. With a new offense line and QB, East,s

is working on their bread and butter.(the running game) They look really good in pratice passing the ball against their

#1 defense. Morristown East's Backfield is down right scary. They have 6 rb that can get the job done. I think #1 rb will be

one of the best running back in all the state. Science Hill has some really good player on bothsides of the football #40,#5

#44 on defense. My question is ,why run that offense, when your best players are running backs? Science Hill QB has

along way to go, if he is going too run that spead-offense. Offensive line for Science Hill needs a little work, but this is

only a scrimmage, they will be fine. I know Science Hill will be coming too Morristown this year, too play Morristown

West. I have too go with the hometown, put I think you guys will give them all they want. Best Luck All Season!

The Cane's D didn't lose anyone to graduation last year if I'm not mistaken. I was vey anxious to hear how the new QB would work with their offense. Which kid played at QB. I was curious if the Howell kid got some snaps.

Well . . . I don't know about the "man among boys" but on those two scores #44 was on the sideline. Soo . . . ?

    • Worst thing SC could do is get rid of Dyer. I agree with everything said above.
    • Jada Hart, Jasmine Bailey and Kaitlyn Patterson the first two being PG's are all good guards and can handle ball pressure and are good players. Raven Wells will be a good post. There were games this summer where any one of the one's I mentioned were in double figures. Gibson County will control TO's much better this year and they will press more and get back to playing faster. AA is down across the board. I have been all over watching ball. Alcoa jumped to AAA and Jackson County moved down. to A. No telling who wins it this year. I agree Union City, Westview and Gibson County will be a dogfight and must see basketball. Poster insuated that Gibson County has a mental block against Westview. Well give me Maddie Gray and we line up last year and they wouldn't have won a game. Let's see how Westview does this year. Their starting five last year had three transfers in it. Rogers from Obion, Trevathon from Greenfield and Gray from South Fulton. Looks like they swung and missed with the girl from Florida this year so let's see how they do playing with kids from Westview. Gibson County has a really good 7th grade class this year.I have done learned you play with what you got and work them hard and develop them and see what happens. Just keep battling and see what happens. I like our team this year. Very athletic. Every year is the same with injuries and can be catistrophic to any. I watched GC all summer long. South Side and GC was very evenly matched and was a classic war.We had some quality wins this summer. Beat Huntingdon, Henry County, Bowling Green, Liitle Rock Central as well as a couple other quality Kentucky Teams. Westview's talent pool may not be what it has been without transfers the next few.
    • I think Gibson County is a top five team this next season but I do agree they will drop off a lot after this year.  Westview lost a ton and will be down this season and hopes of returning to glass house again is slim.  The run they have had is super impressive!
    • My take on GC for this year: Based on what I saw last year and heard this summer, I’m not sure GC could surprise me next year with any outcome. Wilkins is a great coach - they could win the district and region and go to Murfreesboro. They could also come in third in the district and not get out of region. The two returning starters are very talented but Guru is right that they didn’t always play hard last year. The other three starters are good enough in their roles for GC to be successful. There is no depth. Foul trouble could be a problem - Wilkins may avoid it by playing a lot of zone. An injury would be catastrophic. I hope they have a big year and Wilkins rides off into the sunset in Murfreesboro because, without some significant transfers, there are some tough years coming in the next few.
    • Daniel Boone coming down to 3A makes this much tougher. They added a couple transfers to the Flores girl. Cocke Co, Northview, Greeneville, and Daniel Boone - only two headed to Murfreesboro.
