csas has the best talent and personel in the state at the A level. coaching however is a D-. like last year there coach is goin to find a way to blow the big game

as much as root for CSAS and care about that program I would not go as far to say they have the most talent in the state(right near the top but maybe not the most) union city and humboldt are both loaded again. I think CSAS can win the state if they stay focused

Humboldt or Union City has gotcha there /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

I have not seen Union City, but the Humboldt team I saw last year was not more talented than CSAS. They were bigger inside, but CSAS outside players (all of whom are back except for Craven) are better.

Humboldt WAS the second best team at state last year in single A...Temple being the best...Union City beat Humboldt EASILY in the 2 games in the regular season and Humboldt came up and barely got by Union City in the tournaments...I'm not trying to sound biased by this, even though I have nothing to do with the UC program, but if they would have been in the state tournaments last year they would've dropped each team by atleast 10 points that including Temple....Union City was a MUCH BETTER team than the Humboldt team....

As for CSAS I was not overly impressed with them, they liked to move the ball around and wait for the open shot but they seemed so small compared to teams around here...I guess it's just different style of ball being played in the East/West...East playing half court ball and West playing run and gun...Was Craven the left handed kid???

Agreed that CSAS has great talent, best in the region, but they need better coaching. They were often very disorganized last year. I give them the edge over Grace, and if they can play smart they could beat Temple. Temple lost 2 of their greatest players ever to graduation, but the underclassmen will step up, and a few new kids will contribute immediately. Regardless, it's going to be an exciting season. Can we start tommorrow?

Temple probably already has...

I am sorry, but I had to say it. I apologize deeply. It is late and I just couldn't resist.

On a serious note and on topic...

this will be a great district this year. it will be a shootout between CSAS, Temple and Grace. One team will not go to region.

I, like dadoffour, am really looking forward to basketball.

You base this on what?

last years state game when they put in there best players in after they were already down 15 plus. after which lit a spark but by that time the game was over. just never seems like the best players are on the court at one time and it looks like they play not to lose instead of to win. if you can bust the clock do it and let some young player see PT

    • I will never forget the 1983 Heritage vs Maryville game. I remember driving home and listening to WGAP. Can't remember the announcers name. He asked Coach Story why he kept going for 2? Story told him " Why didn't you ask Renfro that last year"
    • TSSAA will let them all go to Mase.
    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
    • I would not put too much stock into the UH over Eagleville. From what I understand they were pretty banged up in that tourney. Catcher was out, they were throwing pretty deep in their bullpen and a few key players were beat up in their infield. Sounds like they are pretty healthy heading into the district tournament. Look at their schedule, they played some really good teams.
