Some teams/programs just seem to take defending their home court a little more personal than most others. Whether anyone shows up to cheer them on is inconsequential. Of course, those teams typically do well no matter where they play. But consistently superior effort and performance produce superior results which equate to a difficult environment for a visiting team. Among many schools I could cite as an example of this, Fulton is the first that comes to mind.

As for places where the crowd regularly creates a special atmosphere that can give the home team a boost, I'd submit the following:

Cosby in A

McMinn Central in AA

Bearden in AAA

Though outside East TN, another place that deserves special mention is Jackson Co.

With the exception of last year (don't know why but we were uncharacteristically vulnerable at home) the Patriots when playing on East Third Street are pretty formidable! We had not lost to a single a team in years (Grace was the only team the previous year, we beat Temple and everyone else.). We have only lost to three single a teams ever at East Third and each of those teams only did it once (City, Grace x 2, and Temple). When it gets rockin' it is a tough place and we have great fans!

What about the "Marsh Pit" of Alcoa.... my four years of high school, only one student section stood a chance, and that was when we went to Sullivan South for a Sub-State game... other than that, i dont care how many kids are in a student section, i have never seen anybody more hype than the "Marsh Pit"

Where were the students from Alcoa at the Alcoa vs. Carter game Tuesday? Was there another school function that took the kids away from the game? Carter only had about ten there because of other school events and was just wondering if it was the same case at Alcoa.

I would say Catholic. I've been to some of their games over the past few years and they are very good. They rarely loose there, and the student section is one of the best I've heard. As far as Clinton goes it is hard to play there because every time you play them at home you are playing 5 on 8. The officiating there is obvious that they are calling against the visiting team.

The kids that took over dont care. All of the Marsh Pit has left for college ,so it will probly never be the same.

exactly.... the marshpit came into effect in the freshman year of the 07 class, consisting of freshman and sophmores..... with the graduation of '06 and '07, the Marsh Pit will never again be at full tilt... im sure the Maryville game and the W.B. game will offer a little different story than the carter game, simply because they are blount co. games.

    • Hmmmmm……doe dee doe doe….i drove the lawnmower down to practice today…….hmmmm…… we got some new faces………. One can run faster than my lawnmower in fifth gear…… a few will be disappointed come November that they jumped ship and went down to that sewage facility……. You can bet the lawnmower on that.
    • I don't know what's going on in the town of McMinnville, but I've read this and it's disturbing.  I'm a "player" person, and I want what's best for the player. If a player gets cut off the team because she said the "F word" then good grief. I mean, come on guys. I wish there was a way for the player to transfer to a different program and just play ball. There are a lot of athletes that are stuck because they're in crappy situations regarding their team/coach. This is player just happens to be one them.
    • Won't happen. College coaches will back the coach every time and it cost this young lady her senior season. Looks like the player may be right on this one. School let her  go after one season. This stuff happens more than you think.
    • “No college is going to offer a scholarship to a player that is kicked off of the team.” For language? I’m not seeing that as a dealbreaker.
    • Why did the coach get rehired after she was let go as an assistant by the former Warren County coach and the current AD?? Is that accurate?? I am very familiar with situations like this. Suprised lawsuits haven't happend before. If the coach unfairly let the player go, I think she has a shot because it cost her a scholarship. No college is going to offer a scholarship to a player that is kicked off of the team. Not going to happen. There are bad hires like this a bunch and kids are treated unfairly by coaches that can't coach a lick and have super long ropes somehow. Amazing how some of these coaches get hired and keep their job.
