Maryville has won 60 games without a loss or tie, the Pirates would be 61 without a question. If you really wish to pursue that quest, schedule them. Alcoa and Maryville are making a living on teams percieving they can beat them. Someone eventually will....but it won't be the So Pitt Pirates. If you have wrangled the competion in Single A, move up. /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" /> I believe it is acceptable for a team to do so! Alcoa and Maryville have won four balls in a row.....you don't do that with just an average team. (there is nothing average about either one) They have the facilities, athletes, and coaches that are hard to beat on a given night. Good luck!

well i just wanna put this out there my thoughts on maryville....i think that the 60 game winning streak will come to an end very soon once there playing up in 5A....thats just my perception of it i credit them they have been an awesome team and they have gone out and got it done for the past 60 games.....but i look at the other side of things and wonder how they were put into the spot of one of the top 5 teams in the nation when they arent playing at the highest level throughout the state.....anyways...i seriously dont think South Pitt could hang with Alcoa or Maryville but hey they always have the chance to schedule them during the season

5A may be the biggest class but Maryville plays in there class . They will move up when it is time. I really don't believe the difference is that big, especially in Maryvilles case. BTW national rankings are based heavily on past seasons.

I don't know if Maryville can be beat, even when they move up. Now South Pitt could schedule up to Alcoa, but it is well known Maryville won't stray from their current non region teams.( William Blunt, Alcoa, and Maryville Heritage)

Maryville will not win 60 straight after making the jump to 5A; the Red Rebels wouldn't have won 60 straight had they been in 5A the past 4 seasons. That's no dig, just stating what to me is the obvious.

Equally obvious, just because Maryville loses once or twice in the regular season (theoretically), doesn't mean the Red Rebels don't still take home the Gold Ball. Maryville has been the best in TN over the past decade, regardless of classification.

As for South Pittsburg, they shouldn't be run down because of an overheard comment that wasn't intended as message board fodder. Besides, there were 2 teams involved in those games being observed, and I'm not so sure South Pittsburg couldn't hold its own (or more) vs. Goodpasture.
