Bearden vs. Maryville

I would like some thoughts on the battle for the district crown? Can Bearden hang after a tough game vs. Faragut.

Bearden and Maryville should be another war. Bearden has the athletic advantage. Lot of great athletes on that team. Maryville has the huge edge in guard play and shooting. Jordan Damron is a great guard. If he was 6'3 he would have every school in the country after him. His size will keep him from playing SEC level basketball.

 

Aaron Douglas is playing a little hurt right now. You can tell his foot injury is bothering him. If he steps up along with Jay Reynolds Maryville should win.

 

This will be another great game. Can't wait to see them play wednesday night.

Expect Damron to put up big numbers as he did the last two meetings. Maryville by 8.

This should be a great game. Hopefully, Blake Jenkins will be at 100 % for Bearden. It really looked like his wrist was bothering him after he got hurt against Farragut.

 

As for Maryville, they are playing well and they are definitely NOT a one man team. Any of their starters are capable of putting up big numbers on a given night. Also, sophomores Corum Sanford and Cameron Langley are playing pretty well of late off the bench.

 

I certainly hope the Rebels can get it done but it wouldn't shock me if Bearden takes this game.

Blevins is an excellent Coach so I think he will have a game plan that will limit Damron. Bearden is a very talented team with depth. I realize Maryvile has some good size but they will have match up problems with Beardens size and better basketball players in the post. It will be very difficult to beat a good team 3 times in a row.

 

Although this is not an elimination game the outcome is very important to future success in the post season. More than likely the loser will face Oak Ridge in the semis of the Region which will spell the end of the line for either Bearden or Maryville.

r&b63 it is very rare that i agree with you but you are right that it is hard to beat a good team 3 times in the same year. it is hard enough to beat them twice which might play into Maryvilles hand if they do loose this one and have to face OR in the semis. either way theese will be 2 good ball gameswhoever has to face oak ridge and then again maybe each other for the 4th time this year.

I dont get where that last statement comes from either of these teams can beat Oak Ridge. They lost to Powell at home, and the region is at Bearden so they have a huge advantage. Maryville, lost to Oak Ridge early without Douglas, Maryville lost the rebounging battle by 15(that wont happen with AD), shot like 20%(wont happen again) Turned it over 20 times, so RandB63 please explain yourself.

 

I believe Bearden will win one of the 5 matchups between Maryville this year, i just hope it isnt the last one. MHS has beat BHS i think 5 or 6 in a row.

For what it's worth ... that chant isn't original with LC either. Maryville College was doing it before LC ever did. I'm not sure where MC might have gotten it from ...

I agree that it is hard to beat a good team three times in the same year. But Maryville does have one of the best coaches in the state. So i will give them the advantage.

Maryville certainly has a very good coaching staff. But as far as the best in the state that could be debated. Blevins is a very good coach in his own right so Maryvilles Coaches and players will be facing a tough challenge. I will predict that Maryville will have to get more production from someone other than Damron as Bearden will have a plan that will limit his scoring.
