QB going to Alcoa

Around town is that the Fulton Standout Jock Stinson might be leaving his old school to play QB at Alcoa for the 09' season...Stinson was dimissed last year due to team issues but is suspected to start spring practice with the Tornadoes...He has talent and alot of experience on the field being the starter his 9th, 10th, and start of his 11th grade year. He's mobile, so look out! It might be another state run this year if Stinson can get in there and learn the new offense. He already got rings from Fulton, he looks to get another at Alcoa

Stinson couldn't start at Alcoa. Too many good QB's already there, and another alledged to be on the way.

Also, if he has ANY discipline problems he may not last.

I'm thinking like AlcoaPaintedBridge........................Jock Stinson, from what I have seen of him the last three years would not be a sure thing to start at Alcoa with Chase James, Sharpe, and Talent.

 

My thought on a possible transfer of Bo Whitley seems not likely after reading additional articles on various sites.......

 

I am confident Alcoa can compete for another state title without both Whitley and Stinson.

Well if Stinson comes to Alcoa and doesn't start at QB, I'm sure the coaching staff can find somewhere to put him on field. He is a tremendous athlete from what I remember and hopefully he can keep his head on straight during his one year stay at Alcoa.

 

By the way, can any Fulton fan help me? How is Stinson's arm?

I'll say this Alcoa DOES NOT have a better QB than Jock Stinson - don't care how good there backups were last year. If Stinson gets a fair shot - 100% he'll be there QB. He is dual threat that can beat you in many ways - not many guys start varsity as a 9th grader especially at that position and at a school like Fulton.

 

His arm is fine - throws a good ball with some juice behind it.

I am having trouble believing what I'm reading. Not that an excellent athlete or two would consider transferring to Alcoa, but that it is being dismissed with such a "ho-hum" attitude. That's just the way it goes.

 

If this were happening at a private school, there would be weeping, wailing, and knashing of teeth over it. You people would be yelling "RECRUITING" at the top of your lungs. This thread would quickly be moved to the public/private section of CoachT, and people would call for severe punishment against the head coach and the school.

It is not the same thing. Public schools "attract" athletes with a winning program and excellent academics. Private schools "recruit" athletes with free tuition and job offers for the parents. Don't know know anything?

Lets start by defining recruiting and transferring.

 

Recruiting is when a school PAYS or gives something of value to come to that said school.

 

Transferring is when a student, athlete, and family move(buy or rent a home) into a new school district.

 

So, as long as TSSAA guidelines are meet, transferring is legal with Public AND PRIVATE schools.

There is a difference in transferring between public to public and private to private/public from what I understand.

There is a 20 mile transfer rule on privates. For publics you might move only 1-2 miles and be in a different school zone and that transfer would be legal with no sit out period.

 

I'm neither for or against this issue, but there is a difference.

And it's not a different school district, but simply a new school zone for publics and could be in the same district.

Alcoa fans are dismissing the comments with a "ho-hum" attitude because this is not exciting news to Alcoa fans. Jock Stinson was capable of starting at Fulton but has run into trouble and no longer is capable of starting at Fulton. So why would Alcoa want stinson; he could be their number two reciever and might be able to help with defensive back depth but, those are not exactly things Alocoa would recruit.

 

As for Bo Whitney he is an injury prone quaterback who if he shows up at Alcoa will have been enrolled at three schools in one year. Not to mention the fact there is no validity to the rumors of him transfering from South Carolina. There is also the fact that South Carolina is a little far away to recruit even for those dirty rotten Blount County schools
