Recommended Posts

Thank you for adding RIVERDALE ON THERE we have been a high school since 1971 1972 year and i think we have had quite an accomplishment in our breif history when you look at some of these schools that have been qround since 1900 it also looks good...

i know gallatin won state in 78 and 89 when was their other championship WIN?...living in Gallatin in the early 80s there was some good teams there and just ran into some tough luck in the playoffs in 82 there was a good lincoln county team that beat them in the championship game i do not remember all of the players from both teams but gallatin had several D1 signees and LC had a real good back and i cannot recall his name

great list and thanks for compiling it and you are right it should make for some great conversations

The TSSAA has Gallatin winning their other championship in 1992.

With the caveat that (1) these figures are rough approximations based on various sources on the internet (so let's not split hairs if some numbers are off here and there), (2) there are some other schools in this state that probably have figures that would fit in on this list, and (3) all-time wins doesn't necessarily qualify a team for "top" status (although the teams on this list have been widely mentioned in previous posts), here are how 25 programs in the state look from a W-L-T perspective:

Dobyns-Bennett 700-208-28

MBA 650-310-46

Maryville 644-213-33

Baylor 634-275-39

McCallie 585-320-44

Knoxville Central 570-254-27

Oak Ridge 558-151-11

Huntingdon 553-267-15

Milan 543-309-16

Union City 535-373-26

Springfield 527-347-43

Smith County 519-296-14

Tennessee 500-285-20

Greeneville 497-350-36

Germantown 484-227-4

Loudon 472-280-19

Cookeville 414-351-26

Brentwood Academy 390-80-3

White House 378-308-8

MUS 373-166-6

Covington 371-240-5

Cleveland 350-111-3

Fulton 350-266-11

David Lipscomb 344-168-4

Riverdale 331-105-2

I can think of at least three programs that would fit in on this list. BGA has been playing football for over 100 years, so one would think the Wildcats will be up there in wins. Trousdale County will be up there as well (one of the TCHS fans told me that, by his count, TCHS has a record of 523-223-12, and that doesn't include about 33 years or so for which he is trying to track down information, so TCHS's wins number could be quite high). Gallatin should be pretty high as well.

    • I agree with the Farragut and Bradley claim. Those will both be wins. Bearden like you say is depending on when you get them in comparison to when the wheels fall off.  As far as West goes I’m 50-50. They have been able to reload so far so until they show me they haven’t I can’t count them out.
    • during the 2nd round of the playoffs last year against Milan, Gray partially tore his meniscus. He had a minor repair around Thanksgiving. Recovery time was minimal and he has been full force for baseball this season.
    • What do ya’ll think the O/U will be? I would set the line at 2.5
    • Playing high school sports is a privilege not a right.  The college did not have to rescind the scholarship.  Scholarship offers are pulled all the time for a number of reasons. That was 100% their choice.  A coach can keep, cut, or dismiss any player that they want to without reason anytime they want.  Is that the right way to run a program?? I don't think that it is, but these are the facts of the matter. This case has absolutely 0% chance of going in the plaintiff's favor. Futhermore, I'd imagine that these administrators and the coach are a part of some teaching or coaching organization that will cover at least 1 million dollars each in legal fees. Obviously the kid and her family feel like there were "damages" thus the lawsuit.  Unfortunately, the law is not on their side in this case.
    • Maryville will recapture the loses from last year against West, Bradley and Farragut. The Bearden game will be the tough one but I look for the wheels to come off that ride somewhere down the road because of all the crap that goes on there. I know to many parents there and some of the things I've been told and some of the post a few of them have made on facebook. They all can't be liars.
