back to the part about travel, I'm not real familiar with most regions, but there cant be many regions as outta wack as 1a. Unaka, Hampton, Cloudland all have 2 hour drives to Cosby, grace, and Jellico (more like 3.5 here) and vice versa for them back to us. Even within the county Unaka to Cloudland is about 40min.

That is jacked up. We travel to three or four teams that are 1.5 to 2 hours away depending on Nashville traffic. Anything south of Nashville for us is a drag. Region 5 by the way

Now Young, no need to fire off at us. You know as well as I do why no region 6 teams are rated. Typically you have 1 or 2 big guns in the region who beat up on everyone else. This particular season every team in your region already has at least 1 region loss. You happen to be the (SEC conference) of high school football and there is no clear cut favorite right now.

Yeah your right all of us in region 6 beat up on each other and this year it really isnt anyones region like it has been...

At least region 1 isnt alone. Those fellas up on Roan Mtn prolly log more miles than anyone in our conference tho, i bet they travel almost 4 hours to Jellico, and 2.5 to grace.

Not firing off at you. I'm proud of you. Region 6 can be like the SEC as long as MP isn't like Tennessee, unless they win the rest of their games.

South Pitt probably does need to move up , when the new classifacations come out and they are playing in the small 1a ,they will be in a league of their own. I just don't see anyone in the small 1a that could ecen compete.

Dont forget about the little yellow jackets. We love to compete against SP. TC1

All those teams are around your area so you do not have to travel great distances to play non-region games, thats what we do, all of our non-region games are teams in a higher classification except one; Pigeon Forge(3-A), Gibbs(3-A), Grainger County(3-A), and Chuckey-Doak(2-A). Thats the only teams close that we can play that are within a reasonable driving distance. When we go on the road in our region we have to travel up to two hours away just for a region game, so why would we schedule our non-region games to somewhere that we have to travel forever to play? Sorry we dont schedule Catholic or Fulton as non-region games, but why would we, we are not going to run up on anybody like that in 1-A, and if you all can compete with all these teams go ahead and step on up in class and see how many titles you win. I'll go ahead and predict that your beloved Pirates would get beat by about 28+ against Alcoa, you all are the class of 1-A no doubt, but we play teams that are from schools that are bigger than us just like you do, are they of the same calibur, maybe not, but we play above our heads on most Friday nights, if we were in a talent rich area like you all, we might schedule some of the teams you do, but hey we're just a little ole country school having a good year and for some reason that ticks you big city folks off, well apologies from us, sorry we are having a good season, next year we will try to be insufficient as far as the rankings go, and besides, its not like we are putting ourselves in the rankings, sportswriters across the state are, so why dont you get in touch with them and tell them how bad we are. Have you seen us play, so can you give an accurate analysis of our team, if so great, if not well quit runnin your VACCUM! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

Hey BB, Old Pirate says some SP folks tend to forget that SP's region is not world beaters. SP will up grade their schedule next year for sure. You made a key point, local area means $$$$$$$$. It costs a small fortune to travel these days. Congrats on your teams success, enjoy the moment and let the kids know the folks are behind them. OP says good luck to your team from PIRATE COUNTRY! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

OP says by the way, thanks for thinking SP is big city 250 students 9-12. SP is about country as they get, just a little comunity living for football season.

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

Especially since they can compete with all these bigger teams, Im not saying they cant, because they obviously can, so why not just show everybody how good you are and move up. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

Not enought students

The Z-plan should fix this.

"those" fans?? if your geographic area prevents you from playing caliber teams of higher class, then OK, I understand that. It is good you are having a good year. Congrats. And yes the Pirate's region has been overall weak. But as OP said next year all you guys that say SP doesn't play anyone good enough will bow down and understand the tradition and history that SP has. The community eats, drinks, and sleeps football. My intentions were not to insult you BB, just merely stating a point. Good Luck.

    • Hope the catcher on baseball team come back out and play's football . He didn't play last year if I remember but I don't remember much after that wreck anyways.. But he did play his freshman and soph years and I thought was a very good player. He's put on some size now, so I'm hoping he's thinking about playing again..
    • Pirates are young this year.  Gordy can sleep on them.
    • They’ll get it worked out eventually.Farragut is too good of a program to be down for long. As an OR fan, I can’t really say I’m too distraught about it though.
    • I didn’t even see that until you said something, but I don’t think it’s that bad. Yes, the coaches can’t get along with each other. But I don’t think they’re openly taking shots at each other right in front of the parents. If they are, that’s pitiful though, that’s really pitiful. I sure hope they’re not, but yeah, I’ve heard the same thing from players over at Farragut getting fed up, and I feel as though what the coaching staff has been trying to keep under the prying eyes of the parents is now out on full display.
    • and there is definitely a reason for that—more than just Catholic recruiting.
