Indy's future

McCurdy and Mikrut were in that same class of 2005 that I was referring to with T.C.

That was probably the best trio of QB's that we'll see for a long time...all I said was that Alex has a chance to become the best in this region since that group.

In the post-T.C./McCurdy/Mikrut era, I'd rank the QBs as such:

1. Michael Becker

2. Graham Nichols

3. Chaz Scales

4. Alex Heckman

However, Alex has the rest of this season and his entire senior year ahead of him to ascend that list. We will see what happens...Indy needs to get on the right track this week against Ravenwood.

Just to add on to that list, assuming we are talking about the entire region. I would put the Cunningham boy from NE probably in front of Scales.

I hate to say I told you so. Anyone who really knows about football can clearly see why this team under achieves. There seems to be an agenda. They run plays to kids who are not the playmakers of the team. It should not matter who the play makers are but on this team it does. There have been countless times all season, certain recievers are wide open. The ball is pulled down an ran versis throwing down field are forced to other recievers. If you read the article in the Tenn(Williamson County Section) you no why this Team want make the playoffs. I hate to be the barrier of bad news but the facts are what they are. I am not sure that, for this team to be a real TEAM, Nick would have been the better quarterback. And buy the way, I am not Nicks father just someone who knows football and understand crap when I see it. I hope this doesnt offend anyone because that is not my goal. I just hate to see a talented team go by the wayside because of selfish play.

what in the world are you talking about and you do not KNOW anything about football and the progression of reads the QB goes thru ( let alone defensive schemes )

please tell me as you state you know football ?????????????

If a team as YOU state underachieves IT IS THE COACHS fault - they run plays to kids whom are not the playmakers on the team -WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT!!!

the problem with the iNDY team is the DEFENSE HELLO I SAID the problem is the defense ohhh wait that is right thier is an agenda on the defensive side of the ball , i bet you think the coach tells the defense to let them score so heckman gets more touches so he can pad his stats --- anyone with a lil common football brains knows you dont know what you are talking about - the defense or lack of is what is kiin INDY - you and sleeper can go watch NICK play QB at college for his intramural team

Any thoughts on how the rest of this season looks like and what the future holds for Indy?

look this team INDY is not like Ensworth ,BA or Alco whom for the most part recruit thier players so when asking about the future it comes down to one big thing coaching - throw in as well how well the feeder schools do as well i.e. middle school talent and that is what you will get. . . . . . . . .

Last year team was run by the seniors. Thats why they were able to pull it together. I have no problem with Heckman's ability which is part of my frustration. This kid can be good, real good. The problem is, he has to figure out how to make everybody around him better. Just because a receiver drops a pass, he cant lose confidence in them. All of the receivers that Eubanks has put on the field this year has shown that they are capable of making big plays. Taylor Adams also had a great game. I believe Heckman should be on his way to throwing for three thousand yards. His arm and those recievers gives Indy the best chance of winning. With that being said, the defense must figure out a way to start early and stop the run. Indy's playoffs start this thursday. Hopefully they will come together as a team an pull out a win.

well besides the defense that is averages giving up an acre a game they need to find a back whom can at least keep a defense honest - look not to hard to figure out here as i am sure rector over at RHS is puttin his game plan together - all know IHS cant run the ball minus heckman pullin it down and taking off

Just out of curiosity, what is the schemes problem, usually when it comes down to big plays given up,that tends to mean missed tackles, broken assignments...etc. not scheme,I have watched alot of their games and the scheme seems fine, they actually change things up alot trying to keep teams off balance from what I see, I saw them play the same scheme last year and they had a tremendous defense, sometimes you just don't have the players or the experience. You sound like a kid who complains alot and thinks that you could do a better job. Are you an Independence fan?? Take a look at thier roster son, not many returners on either side of the ball, 5 total from what I see...very difficult job for those coaches. We all need to be supportive to this team!! I wonder if the ravenwood parents and supporters questiond their Head Coach and Schemes last year when they went 4-6....If I recall they had a great QB in Becker and very little returners. Sound familiar??? Just step back and look at this team from a whole, not just the coaches.

Okay, I need a little help here.

I believe this team's playmakers are #2, #3, #7, and #10. I think #8 will be a playmaker in the future and I think #5 may have the best hands on the team.

So,

They have a quarterback who--when all is said and done--may be the best in this region since T.C. Jennings graduated. He's already in the discussion as a junior. He can run, he continues to improve his passing, I don't know what else you want from him. He is one of the top five playmakers in the entire region--why shouldn't he get the ball in his hands on every play?

Against Dickson, he had 21 completions to six different receivers. No single player had more than six catches. Nick Smith had 3 catches for 92 yards (the most on the team) and Jonathan Norman caught two touchdown passes.

You claim that they deliberately give the ball to kids who cannot make plays...which kids? I'm interested into hearing your reponse. However, you were the "barrier" of bad news, so I'm not sure what to make of anything you say.

I would most certainly take Nichols from Franklin long before Heckman, if the game against Franklin is any indication on how Heckman has been playing this year, because he was absolutely god awful that night.

hey go read what i was replying to (poster justdodetit) aka maybe n. smiths dad or a close pal of N Smith.....

call me a kid that complains alot as you state- as since you asked me if i am a fan - yes i was before moving to Florida a few weeks back, didnt know anyone on the team but was close to my home so they became my adopted team from the opening of the school ,and since became friends with few from the Eagle family...Since you question me I will give you a quick lil bio ...15 years at catholic Illinois HS as an O cord,2 years as O-cord for the England Bulldogs in the U.K. ) and for three years worked for a college up in the midwest evaluating high school talent .while you have been sitting up in the bleachers or maybe coaching peewee football I guess it is safe to say you know alot more about football right SON!!!!!! just MAYBE if you read in detail SON what i was replying to you would understand so let me clarify again i was giving my opinion on to what justdodgetit had said so I will break it down for you ....

1. I was backing up Heckman ( as justdodgtit stated he is pulling ball down and running for personal stats) I WAS TALKING ABOUT THE DEFENSIVE SCHEMES THAT HECKMAN HAS BEEN SEEING ON DEFENSE SON - not the defensive schemes INDY is running-any one with a little coaching knowledge can tell you anytime the defense gives you something take it, hence the reason Heckman is taking what d-scheme the opponets are giving him- to clarify for you SON i was talking about the opponets defensive schemes.....

2. Again ( justdodgetit said the team is underachieving and that is due to heckman being selfish ) well i was just telling him that if a team underachieves the problem solely lies on the coaches shoulders and not the players - yes it may just be the players that are not acheiveing but in the end it is the coaches fault if a team does underachieve - ir look at Clemson, U of Tenn, or local hs sports Lincoln county ,Smyrna etc.....

if you looked at any of my posts I HAVE SAID REPEAT SON stated that aside from RECTOR , i think Eubanks is in that upper echelon of coaches in the midstate.....

Well someone stayed up past their bedtime. Don't take everything so offensive.

I do agree that "Eubanks is in (the) upper echelon of coaches in the midstate," aside from Rector.

Well Goldendome are what ever. Since you aim to call me out. I want question your football IQ because its clear what level you are on. First of all, I am sure you are one of those back seat coaches calling for Vincent Youngs head over Kerry Collins, be patient so this doesnt go over your head. The reason why Kerry is better for that team is because he makes everybody better. Remember, same receivers, different quarterback, different team. I could talk about the Vandy quarterback issue but I think you are smart enough to get my point. Running quarterbacks can hurt certain teams. This Indy team was at its best when heckman Had to get rid of the ball in three or four seconds. I am not suggesting that this kid is not talented but he is selfish. I also agree that coaching is a big part of it but I want go there. My problem with Indy is, they dont appear to be a team. Rector does not have nearly the talent Indy has but he will have his team ready and playing as a unit. There is no excuse for Indy to be 1-3 in this region and they still have not played ravenwood or brentwood. I will not jump on anyone's bandwagon and I will call a spade a spade. After all, there record speaks for its self. Like it or not the truth is what it is.

question my football IQ i think my resume speaks for itself---15 years at catholic Illinois HS as an O cord,2 years as O-cord for the England Bulldogs in the U.K. and for three years worked for a college up in the midwest evaluating high school talent (does it make me a coacht advisor or part of ESPN game day crew heck no , not at all but its way higher then yours and more importantly more important then you love affair of n smith ( the future mvp of intramural football ) So tell me besides being the CEO of Nick Smith club or CEO of bash Alex heckman fan club what do you know about football..... you are clueless about Collings and Young give me Collins any day of the year over VY - running QBs dont hurt the team do you think it hurt Texas when they one the national championship a few years back or Florida Gators with tebow at the helm - look heckman runs becasue that is what the defense gives him and that is what he takes- look he really dont have a clue- as a "regional scout for a major midwestern college team for a few years and knowing many that have been scouting High school kids for 10 -15 years will tell you that they dont look at the stats, nothing can be more true then at QB when they look at the QBs feet, poise, throwing motion, ability to read defenses, look off corners etc.....

do me a favor grab your skirt and pom poms and cheer on INDY
