Govolsknox
I have committed to refrain from offering opinions on the OR coaching situation until after the season. But I find it interesting that some people really believe the only reason you could have a problem with the current coach is his race. Amazing. Ole Dad
I had recently resolved to do the same, but when attacked as a racist I felt it appropriate to set the record straight. Ram Dad I have committed to refrain from offering opinions on the OR coaching situation until after the season. But I find it interesting that some people really believe the only reason you could have a problem with the current coach is his race. Amazing. pepvol
Ole Dad, This is a reply from Coach Stanton Stevens cousin. You talked about all the good teams that OR had in the last several years. The past coaches had talent on both the offensive and defensive side of the ball. The team on the bench was just as good as the starters. So how can you compare the talent to what we have now. If you know football as much as you think you do go and compare the past teams man-for man and see what you come up with. It sound to me that you just have a problem with Coach Stevens that is based on his race. Week after week I read you comments and they say the same old thing. Oak Ridge has always been on the top and they are feeling the same thing that all teams go though a rebuilding season. You cant always win every game and a coach can onlylay the foundation for the guys. It takes they guys to MAKE IT HAPPEN. Maybe there is not enough talent to keep the reputation that they have built up. If you football then you know that I am right. Just remember that the team reads this site and if you are any type of person you would think of them. Good Luck to Coach Stevens and Staff and the Oak Ridge Football Team Sweetness21 Amazing ... you've thrown out the " Race " card without any evidence what so ever . Ben Martin 1943-1947 (23-18-1) (60%) Buist Warren 1948-1951 (30-10-2) (73.8%) John Francis 1952-1954 (24-3-3) (85%) Jack Armstrong 1955-1968 (105-28-5) (77.9%) Emory Hale 1969-1980 (112-23) (83.0%) Bill Young 1981-1987 (57-21) (73.1%) Joe Gaddis 1988-1998 (119-24) (83.2%) Bruce Lussier 1999- 2004 (62-14) (81.6%) Stanton Stevens 2005- ( 30-13 ) (69.77%) You don't think this has anything to do with Oak Ridge fans displeasure do you ? You mention the kids on the team , my guess is that any kids reading this thread will be wondering if their coach Is going around telling his Cousin that they're not any good . You have talked the kids down , I haven't seen any other Oak Ridge fans putting the kids down like you have in defending your cousin . Part of being a great Coach Is being a Man and having great Character . If your cousin Is anything like you , then there's no wonder Oak Ridge Is struggling so . A man doesn't make excuses , and a Man with any Character at all doesn't use " Race " as an excuse to perform at lower standards than others . A man with any Character at all would never blame the kids when It is his job to teach these young men to perform to their maximum ability . There's plenty of Athletes on the team , a blind man could see that this team is not getting the most out of what they have available . Ole Dad
Oak Ridge getting thumped tonight at home. Getting shut out and haven't been shut out since 1993 by Riverdale. OR nole
Soddy 34 OR 14. The real racists are the ones who keep defending the coach because he is not caucasion. I don't care if the coach has orange and green stripes, his team is a reflection of his leadership. OR was pathetic. Bottom line. The SS apologists will tell you that coach had instilled the basic skills in the players, had a great gameplan, and inspired his players to rise up and play their best. But those darn kids didn't do their part. It is sickening to go to an OR game. Oak Ridge football has become what Bailey and Green want it to be. Just a hobby. It makes me want to pull out a less than 2 inch knife and "not play that game". And another thing, with the minimal crowd all sports will suffer from the lack of revenue. Let the snowball roll. Ole Dad
Yep, Lussier took all the talent with him when he left. It has to be true because Stan The Knife says he has no talent. Just an off year....or two....or three. Ram Dad Soddy 34 OR 14. The real racists are the ones who keep defending the coach because he is not caucasion.
