Cookeville @ Lincoln County

All in all, this was a very hard fought tough hitting High School game that both sides can be proud of. Worst thing about this game was the last 5 min. when the zebras on the field totally lost their bearing and blatently show how poor of a crew they are. Yes there were calls (as always) to both sides but honestly. They call holding against a Cavs wide reciever as the defender pulls him to the ground coming off the line. They call first down even after spotting the ball a yard short.... The marker was on the line. Some would question why the Cavs coach got no flag? Obviously the zebras knew he was right in his anger. Any other time I am sure he would have been tossed off the field and possibly out of the game. Who actually called Cookeville's last time out. Was not aware LC could do that for them but obviously they did since there was no call from the Cookville side. Again, I take nothing from LC, you guys are a good team with some great talent. Your number 3 is one hard fighting young man. He was rocked, and remained on the field 3 additional plays before leaving. I just wish there were tighter controls from these officiating crews to check their ability to call an unbias game. Of course I am a Cavs fan through and through and believe they were the better team, but they turned the ball over and come up short on two 4th downs so that in itself is practically impossible to overcome. If both teams play as they did last night (short of the C-ville turnovers) few teams in UT will match up with them.

Very good post..

Yeah tough loss for the cavs. Played well enough to win and had better stats in most areas but just couldn't make the big play when needed. As far as the refs, yeah they were bad but everyone should be used to it. I haven't seen a good crew yet. The call on the cavs WR for getting thrown down and being called for holding, might be one of the worse calls I have seen watching football. Anyways congrats to the falcons and hopefully we'll see you again (sooner than some think).

Its about time Lincoln County won a game against Cookeville in the pit. The past 3 meetings in "the pit" resulted in Cookeville wins. With the officiating crew like last night, its no wonder LC is 144-38 at home. Congrats to both teams. Its a shame Cookeville couldn't score in the red zone.

One big difference between these 2 teams. Cookeville wins and loses with CLASS. Something the mighty Falcons need to learn. Lets see who goes further in the playoffs. LC will be lucky to sneaky by the 1st round. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

Yeah right, like the Cookeville player that walked off the field as soon as the game was over and didn't shake hands with anybody.

We'll see who goes farther.

Why don't you show a little class, and quit crying like a baby, the series is tied with 4 wins each with each team winning at home 1 time and then the other 3 wins at the other guys place.

Why don't you just say that we cheated, and I guess we paid off the refs too, didn't we. Grow up. I guess MUS cheated you too didn't they.

I wouldn't shake hands with the classless players of LC either. Did you notice your players talking trash towards the Cookeville sidelines after they converted the last 1st down?? I'm not crying. Its just pretty ironic that LC gets dominated all over the state but when they played at the "pit", they always seem to pull out a victory.

Maybe LC can go back to Brentwood and get some more talented players. That kid is a stud.

Im not going to say LC cheated but you just did and they always say the guilty dog always barks 1st so there ya go. In reference to your comment about MUS, they are a very very good team. Maybe next year, LC will add some good teams to their schedule and not play average teams like Baylor and Independence...both games they got beat. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

You and Sadler are regular comedians..... I will be looking for you on Comedy Central (NOT!!!!) The only person that works on Lincoln County's field is Coach Thompson, and although I wasn't at the game, I am sure he was not on the field officiating the game Friday night. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> For a player to walk off the field and not shake anyone's hand is classless. It doesn't matter what the other team does to you, it is up to you to be the bigger person and shake their hand anyway, that is what class is all about. To say the LC players were taunting, or whatever you want to say, does not matter. If he were truly a class player, he would have shaken their hands and walked off the field with his head held high, like Coach Joslin has coached him to do! And to say that LC gets dominated all over the state except for at home is another one of your non funny jokes. They have won at Cookeville, and, to the best of my knowledge, THE FALCONS WERE THE FIRST TEAM TO EVER BEAT RIVERDALE ON THEIR HOME FIELD....... Can Cookeville claim that?????? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />

No they can't. I remember that game well as it was the FIRST time R'dale ever lost on their own field. I also remember the re-match in the playoffs when R'dale went to the Pit and WON, so it can and has been done. If there was ever going to be bias by the refs it would have been in that game!

Is there 'home cooking' there by the refs? I would say NO, but that is just my opinion.

I agree with you totally! The call that was made AGAINST the Falcons against Riverdale in the playoffs, that cost them the game, was made by a ref that was not even supposed to be looking for offensive holding. That is what had Coach T so upset. So, that goes to show you that the Falcons do not receive "home cooking" in The Pit.....

The only 'home cooking' at the Pit I am familiar with is the Hamburgers and they are GREAT!

BTW some of us R'dale folks wondered the same thing that Coach T did as to 'why' that particular Ref made the call.

That has burned in Coach T's belly for a while, let me asure you. BUT, Riverdale scored more point that night than Lincoln County did, and that is all that matters. I just don't like hearing all the whining going on that the refs stole the game from Cookeville Friday night. I know all of them don't feel that way, but the ones that are doing the complaining are speaking for the vast majority of them. We lost the 03 game to you guys in the playoffs and felt that way, but life goes on. There is nothing any of us can do to go back and change it now..... /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

As I told Siegel fans after the loss to Blackman: Blaming the refs for your loss is a coward's excuse

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
