WHAT A GAME TONIGHT!!!!!!!!!!

let me first say Lincoln county is a very good team!!!!we made a shot at the last second to take a 1 point lead going into the first half and we led the rest of the way...

they was killing us in the paint and doing what they wanted the moved the ball inside well and got open good in the middle our coaches made a great adjustment at the half and took that away..I thought LC was very well coached and played hard all the way to the final 000 on the clock and i always love a team that plays hard..

Jaclisa had a GREAT night tonight I dont know how many points she had but i think she had quite a few...again this team is just a great comlpliment of each other on the court if they dont cover natalie she hits the 3 if they do cover her then ashley hits the 3 and jaclisa hits the 3 and then we pound inside shacobie and rachel and candace just a great group of girls...that play so good together and play unselfish and it is fun to watch this team

Monday we play blackman at 7 30 at blackman and the last time we played them there they beat us so we need to be ready and not let that 3 point loss happen again and you know they are going to be MAD after the last game we and they had a poor performance. So girls be confident and play your game have fun and get this win dont let the season end on monday

In 4 games tonight, 7AAA won three and played very competitively in the fourth and snow willing, Monday night at Blackman, Riverdale, Cookeville, Blackman and Shelbyville wiill play for the two open slots to go to the substate at the end of next week.

First, Blackman did revert back to their play in the first half of the season and found the hard work the District put them thru the last part of District play payed off and they went in to Lawrence county an underdog and with a never say die attitude, came out with a two point win against a team that was favored to beat them. Make no bones about it, Lawrence County has a great team but defense and Blackman's players stepping up was the difference. Kniow this, the grit and hustle of a Blackman team behind at one time in the game by 14 points won the game. While Baily did hit the winning shot with 5 seconds to go the story of the game was how Lawrence county jumped out to a 10 point lead the first quarter and Blackman scratched and clawed back and won the second quarter by two points, the third by two points and the last quarter by 8 points and won by two. I would like to have had a mike in the huddle when CH talked to his players at the end of the first quarter to hear his speech. I would suspect this would be particularly rewarding considering the roller coster last half of the season they had. And now for the box scores for The Blackman/Lawrence game. For Blackman, Bailey had 11, Campbell had 7, Hall had 2, Norris had 6, nowlin had 4, overton had 3 and Smith had 6. For Lawrence County, Hunt had 3, Kemp had 8, Laffman had 14, Moore had 6 and Robbins had 6.

Regular season winner Cookeville came thru with a win over Franklin County in a matchup thought to be much closer than it was as Cookeville beat Franklin 47-34. Unofficial scoring was for Franklin Burnette 11, Cunningham 5, jackson 2, Trussell 6 and Zimmerman 3. For cookeville Barnes 4, Brooks,6, Erlanger 3, Helton 10, Johnson a game high 20 and Odle 4. It was a great win but expected for Cookeville.

Riverdale won over Lincoln in a spirited game 76-58. it was agame that both teams scored at will and Riverdale had more fire power than the south central school. For Lincoln county, Gordon had 20, Bean 3, Phelps had 15, Davis had 5, allen had 13, mcGee had 5 and Sullivan had 2. For Riverdale haislip had a game high of 33, Lanning had 10, Barbee had 13, Spurlock had 6, Henry had 6, Orman had 2 and Azore had 1. Haislip scored at will for RD as did Gordon who had 20.

Shelby won a close game with Lebanon and I am sure the school at Shelbyville was uneasy and Shelbyville stayed close all night. I will come back and post the boxes for the two games I don't have at this point. Now the box scores for Lebanon who lost tonight 64-54. For Lebanon, coggins had 7, Elie had 22, Jennings had 11, Lamberson had 2, Peyton had 9, and Stafford had 3. For the winner Shelbyville, Buchanan had 2, Dawson had 29, Graves had 2, Phelps 14, Scott 6, Swett 2, and Whorley had 9. LHS ended the seaon with a great year with great improvement and the opportunity to see a great performance by Icelyn Elie," The Tower of Lebanon" and the fans at the Boro look forward to seeing her at MTSU this next year.

Now we are back to Blackman Monday if snow does not stop play. This is a chance for one of the best times to see all of the winners as two schools in the Boro Riverdale and Blackman, A great Cookeville team and an always contender Shelbyville play hard for the two substate spots and the Regional championship.

Scores and ppg figures are unofficial.

Wow, what a game. We did "get off the bus", but not until midway through the 2nd. Very impressed with the determination the Lady Blaze showed tonight being down 14 and battling back. What a night for Sr. LaDonna Bailey. Game winner with 5.5 ticks left on the clock. Good solid minutes from many off the bench. Cox played what might be the strongest defense that I have seen from her. Hall was relentless. A great representation for the whole team. The Blackman Faithful that made the trip were small in number but very vocal. Hopefully we will have a bunch of folks show up Monday night to cheer them on. If you are a Blaze lurker on the boards; and you know who you are, make sure you make it to the game Monday night. BRING SOMEONE WITH YOU!

Anyone hearing of game time changes at Blackman , please post the change somewhere on this Site. Thanks.

As many already know, the times and matchups of these very competitive games at Blackman MONDAY are:

Shelbyville vs Cookeville 6:00

Riverdale vs. Blackman 7:30

Blackman has good parking and a good sized gym but with the Schools playing these games and the noteriety of this Region to provide very good teams in the Substate, the gym likely will be full. These four schools have very good players and this will be an opportunity, in one gym in one time frame to see them. Two of these schools will not continue on after MONDAY and it is unfortunate. Two of these schools will go on to the Substate, the winner playing at their home gym and the loser playing away.

It is true, Blackman does not have to worry about getting off the bus. They do have to worry about getting in the gym ready to play. Riverdale needs to be concerned about Haislip( who scored almost half of their points last night), Barbee( as a freshman being a vital cog), and Lanning ( making a great transition to a point) and the other players playing up totheir potential. Its the Riverdale"Us against the world " against the Blackman" Pressing Sharpshooters" in one of the games. In the other its the team from the Plateau with Helton, Johnson and Brooks playing Shelbyville, the Perennial Favorites of high school basketball in Tennessee with Dawson and Phelps, two of the best players in this Region, fighting it out to get to the Championship game. None of these four wants for this to be the last game in their season and each has their eye on competing for that ball just down the road at MTSU in a few weeks. Thats MONDAY at Blackman the first game starting at 6:00.Bump

    • Best-of-three sectional series vs East Robertson at home starting Wednesday.  They put us out last year at this point.  Go Pirates!!
    • I don't believe they have anyone that is surbers caliber but a decent staff overall.
    • Richland plays at McKenzie on Wed.  Should be a good series.  Does Richland have good pitching?
    • Congratulations to the Warrior baseball team winning the Region Championship.  Last night the football team beat Franklin Co 33-0 in their spring scrimmage. Warriors looked very good. Missing a few players who were playing baseball but still absolutely dominated. A lot of young ones got in halfway through the 3rd when the score reached 33-0. QB Tilton Pickett looked very sharp.  Sam Pickett is on another level this season. Seems to have put on 15 to 20 lbs in the off season and added a step as well. Transfer from last year Williamson caught numerous balls and is very elusive. Lots of athletes on this team. Defense was smothering and will only get better. The head coach from Sewanee was in attendance and offered 2 kids after the game. Could be a special year.
