SOddy had -2 yards offense 2nd half... Ooltewah was just too strong for Soddy. Upfront Ooltewah pushed Soddy around 3/4 of the game. Polk had an awesome game. 39 carries for 295 yards. Ooltewah's defense had 4 int's but gave up 3 td's 1st half. Hats off to Soddy. I knew they wouldn't come in here flat. Soddy was the best "passing" offense Ooltewah has faced all year. Good luck next week and hopefully we'll play back at the nest 2 weeks from now.

Congrats to the OWLS- Region CHAMPIONS! Hats off to Soddy. You guys played a great game the first half. After halftime the OWLS woke up(probably after a butt chewing from Benny in the locker room). Too many good players to mention, but there were a couple that seemed out of sync, but that's ok, everyone has an off week.

To the gentleman in the "referee" shirt near the press box: I commend you for being an excellent fan in my book. You stood up and yelled at the crowd to get involved in the game an cheer the team on. Good for you. Since my first post on Coach T, I have complained that the Owls fan base was "dead" when it came to "cheering" fior the team. They seem to just expect. I've often thought fans looked at me like I was crazy when I yelled for the team. Oh well, I for one thank you for making a stand and getting alot of people around you excited!

Soddy....Good luck to you next week. I believe you travel to Bearden....go play like you have all season and you will represent Region 2 well. By the way, Bubba Haney is the man! I was very impressed with his overall athletic ability.

Owls.....great job, now move on to prepare for the next game. I'll be there with my RED on cheering you on. Let's rock the nest next week.

GO OWLS!!!!!

If Soddy protects their qb they may upset Bearden. They have a well conceived offense but they got out athleted against Ooltewah. Again, their qb is the best we have seen.

Good game for the Owls as team and Polk with the great blocking of the O LINE..........Soddy showed up and kept Owls honest first half and had some bad breaks the 2 nd half!! I m still disappointed that Owls are nt throwing the ball more ( i know there winning but we ll see when they get in the playoffs how far the running ONLY game will take them)

First: any owl fan that says, they were not very, very concerned at half time is a liar!!!! 2nd:POLK was incredible tonight 39 att.-295yds-4tds....WOW!!! O-line blocked really well in the 2nd half. 3rd: sounds like a broken record,but....THANK GOD for our DEFENSE!!!! other than a couple of blown assignments, they played really well(as usual). Owls special teams(mainly kickoff) needs to make some changes with strategy...kick it deep EVERY TIME!!!! #21 zarzaour, got knocked-out in the 2nd qtr w/ a concussion(hope he's alright),Brady looked like he rolled an ankle right before the half(hope,he's o.k.) and Bruelle hurt his ankle in the 4th qtr. I hope he's alright, gotta have him. The usual suspects played hard all night: #36 smith got his first TD(an awesome one-handed catch),Polk, the entire O-line,Gino Norwood made some awesome blocks on the outside and down field,#33 Patty had several tackles,Jackson,Adams etc....Freeman(back-up fullback)had an awesome run at the end.#5 Manning played well all night(had one big hit on kick-off),Burroughs had some good tackles. You get the point.,.evrybody played well, even though it was shaky in the first half. one last thing....SODDY came to play, period!!! Slaughter has proven, that soddy made the right choice. good-luck soddy. GO OWLS!!!!

    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
    • An FYI: To see how an opponent has done against another opponent since 2001- go to the game by clicking on one of the teams. Click the G beside the game. For example, Milan: The info will show you the previous matchups and other info.
    • All these college signees went yo other schools for 3 years, were getting college offers then transferred to Bearden. It’s not like this staff did much to develop them.    The BBall coaches son and the Seymour transfer were some of the most talented QBs in the region, and you guys developed them into QBs who might complete one pass a game.
