Centennial @ Gallatin

Alright, folks. Here we go, the playoffs are here.

 

Gallatin (8-2) comes off a close win against McGavock, and Centennial (7-3) enters into this game after losing to rival Franklin.

 

Thoughts?

 

As far as history goes, Centennial traveled to Gallatin in November of '02, and the Green Wave came out on top that time (I believe the final was 24-14). I remember how great both crowds were, and I expect nothing less this time.

I would actually beg to differ.

 

After the initial two drives, Centennial's defense played very well against Franklin, but three 2nd half interceptions at midfield made it tough for the Cougar D to make any stops on such a short field.

 

Yes, they did let up some unacceptable big plays (especially in the run game), but it was turnovers that doomed the Cougars tonight, not defense.

 

Anyone got any info on Gallatin?

On offense they run out of the shotgun every play most of the time with wideouts both sides. They spread you out and then run it down your throat with their outstanding QB Cody Matthews and their 1000 yd RB Sanchez Holder. They have a very good offensive line, the best I saw all year. They will throw around 10 times a game. On defense they have struggled recently so I see this as a high scoring game at least in the 30,s.

Just curious dome, have you seen Gallatin play in person this season? If so, which game did you attend?

Man ya'll got this one started early....

 

After listening to the coaches breakfast, it sounds like Centennial and Gallatin matchup sizewise on the lines. The Cougars have a really good kicking game and a very explosive offense. They seem to like the big play while Gallatin is more smashmouth. The big difference between these two teams is speed. Centennial is faster than any team we have faced. Scales maybe the fastest guy playing in 5-A. He is a track champion. The description of Scales was a Terrance Davis with discipline, not a good combo for Gallatin. The runningback, whos name escapes me, is almost as quick. The big tightend/wideout, Kelly, has deceptive speed and a huge height advantage. They got wore out last night in the second half but I still think Franklin is the best team in the state. So no shame there. Pretty much a mirror image of Gallatin but a lot faster.
