GC vs OC

Friday night, Gibson Co. will visit Troy for a match-up with the Lady Rebels. These games are usually great games, and while some seem to think that GC will walk away with this one, others including myself are not so sure. GC is the pick by most as the favorite to win 13AA, while some have OC as low as 5th, (which I can't understand). GC has been just what everyone thought they would be so far, VERY good. OC, however has been much better than alot of people thought. This should be a good early season district match-up.

So let's here it.....what do you think?

This game will be close for awhile and GC will pull away in the end. We struggled against Humboldt's 1-3-1 defense the other night in the first half and Heather Butler starting coming alive from behind the 3 pt. line and finished with 32 in the game. We were leading by 5 at the half and winded up winning by 32. I expect something like that in this game but not 32 points. I'll take GC by around 22.

VOREBS, what you failed to mention was this will be Reedy's first trip back to Troy in a different uniform. I don't expect her to have her best game Friday night due to that. She's playing really well for GC this year and is a great player.

GC...true, I did not mention the fact that Reedy will make her return. In no way a slight to her, I feel this will be hard enough on her. "Reedy III" as we called her is a great player, and a fantastic young lady, and I am glad to call the Reedys friends of mine. I do feel this will be a difficult game for her being against her former teammates.

As for GC by 22, I just don't see it, but that is why we all be there Friday night to watch. Should be a good one /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

I saw OC at the Westview play-day. Outside of Fuzzell, the rest of the team struggled shooting the ball in both games. They rushed alot of shots and forced quite a few as well. Also, outside of Fuzzell, they will have no one big enough down in the post to guard Griffin and Reedy at the same time as well as guarding Butler on the outside. This years team is twice as good as last years team. We're MUCH deeper this year going 9-10 players deep in the bench during the main part of the game and eventually clearing the bench out half way through the third.

I'm ready to see Fuzzell play as she's fun to watch. Can't wait for Friday!

Others, besides Fussell (by the way this is how one spells her last name) have really stepped up their games since you've seen them at the little play day at the high school over in Martin. The others (a Fr. and a So.) are averaging in double digits through eight games and another player (senior guard) has an avg. of close to double-digits(around 9 p/g)

Granted the one loss they've had is to a very good Marshall Co., Kentucky team that's the best they've seen this year.

Gibson Co. has a wealth of talent, well coached and one of the best guards in the state in Butler who is fun to watch unless you're going against her. She is always the key to that offense. McMillan and wife know how to coach post players and they are loaded at that spot with Griffin and the transfer in Reedy. Aubrey is an outstanding player and even a better person and she'll have a few butterflies on Friday night but should be okay as the low post players from OC better bring their "A" games. If the Lady Rebs don't get caught up in the "big stage, bright lights" aspect of the magnitude of this early in the season district game, and play like they're capable of, this will be more of a competitive game than some people think.

I hear the ghost may even make an appearance at Central Station on Friday night..

This game will be a great indicator of where these two teams stand this early in the season. I just believe GC has to much fire power for Obion. Regardless of how Reedy plays against her former team GC should win by 10-15. I think OC will slow the game down enough to keep GC from beating them by 20 or more. Wish I could be there it should be a fun one!

GC, I don't know you, but I have always liked your posts on here, always I think fair, and in support of your team. And while I agree, Gibson Co is LOADED with talent, great coaching staff, depth and everything else, I do think that the Lady Rebs will be a much stronger test than some think. This is not a team of one. Fussell is as we all know the "REAL" deal. She can score in bunches, is averaging double digit rebounds, and high in assist. Add to that, a veteran in Eaves, a sr. who can play, and Tucker, a post player who can shoot it, and handle the ball, Adkins, a jr, who is back from injury and playing well, as are jr Grady, jr Craddock, sr Williams, and fr Wright, who appears to be a star in the making.

It is not a one person show, this bunch can play, but we all know that Fussell is one of the best all around players in this part of Tn, if not the entire state.

I still say this will be a much better game than some think. By this time tomorrow night I guess we will all know. /blink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blink.gif" />

Well, I bet if I were to see you and you were to see me and realize it, we might've seen each other around the gym a time or two, lol. I bet if you're to see treefitty74 or Purple&Gold tomorrow at the game, they'll be able to point out who I am.

I'm taking nothing away from the rest of the team. I just wanted to give my observation of what I saw at the Westview play-day of OC. I'm sure they have improved alot since then. I'm sure Fussell will get her points tomorrow night and I'm sure Butler will get hers as well. Like I said, I think this game will be close and will eventually extend out in the end. I hope both teams come away injury free and hope both teams play to the best of their ability. I'm looking forward to coming to "The Palace of Troy" lol.

This game could fool me since its at Obion but I agree with GCPioneer. It could be close for awhile but the overall outcome shouldnt be close. You never know when a team comes in flat but this shouldnt be the case tonight. Obion is a good team but they havent seen the pressure that Gibson County can put on you. Gibson County has way to many weapons. I'll say 70-50 Gibson County.

The real test for Gibson County will come at Westview.

Such eloquent and rosy prose, contained here in, is so seldom found amongst the more jocular subset of our species. The brilliant author behind such poetic use of an obviously deep and broad vernacular, reminds me of the other-worldly talents of Oscar Wilde. I humbly thank you, kind sir, for so generously sharing your elegantly loquacious gifts. The Goat sez: You better watch your back, Lord Byron, I’m sure poetry isn’t the only talent and passion that the author shares with Oscar Wilde.
