I just hear this on the radio about 10 minutes. Why did he wait until now to do this? This seems a little odd to me. I mean the man gets the schedule fixed for next year, then resigns or gets fired? Somethin' fishy going on here.

Nothing fishy at all. This neatly coincides with the AD's report on the state of the football program which landed on the principal's desk last week. I like too that the new hire will be done primarily by the AD. It is important that the administration let the AD do his job and not unduly interfere. I just hope that the hire is a good one.

First he denies he is resigning and then does just that, resigns. The Oak Ridger Editor chastized former Coach Stevens for misleading the public.

This era is closed, it is time to put this behind the program and move towards a new future for Oak Ridge Football. Best wishes for it being all the best it can be! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

The timing is very surprising considering Oak Ridge is right in the middle of recruiting season. Hey Hitch......what's this going to do to the kids committed to attend Oak Ridge to play football next year?

about time you stepped on the sideline isn't it? I figure if you cut in half all your calls you make to the sports talk programs you would have time....... /roflolk.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflolk:" border="0" alt="roflolk.gif" />

Yeah, whats fishy is that Stevens didnt do anything to get the schedule for next year even though he was willing to take credit for getting the game scheduled with Maryville. In reality it was AD Mike Mullins that did the scheduling.

    • I remember very well watching things change in the late 80's and yes it's all schools. Most people that are in charge today have any idea because they were raised and taught under this social experiment so they don't have a clue. Anyone that does see the truth for what it is usually try and hide it by blending in so that the School Gestapo doesn't round them up and take them to the Fuhrer ( kindly putting it ). Yes it is all schools not just Maryville. This train ride is not headed in a good direction and if the public had seen a movie of what's happening now back in 1980 everyone would have been headed home afterwards to change underware.
    • You are so correct!  It’s really 99.9% of academia want to change to way that education is not only taught but the way it is viewed.  The pendulum has definitely swung as far to the left as possible and eventually will swing to the right much too far.  I have always  said that politics and one’s personal religious views need to stay out of education,  but for the last 40 years education has been running full throttle to what we have today.  If the social experiment that we are currently experiencing continues it is only a matter of time before the public school system in the USA completely collapses and all kids attend private schools or even worse don’t go to school.
    • He was a bruise but Aaron Dykes is HVA’s best RB ever.
    • I am talking about what they both did for their team. They both carried their team for four years while they were both there. I wasn’t really comparing them that would be unfair. Bishop is on a level of his own.
