I don't really have a preference either way, was just stating my opinion, and Dexter was very young when he was tabbed to start that program. Madison went exactly the opposite way, Patterson was coming off a state championship at Peabody. And if you can remember back that far, Pratt was about 2 and 25 before he turned things around at Crockett. And don't kid yourself, whoever gets the job will have some type of connection.....I have seen both guys mentioned, and they ARE up and coming coaches, neither will be in middle school much longer. They will have 2 years before playing a varsity schedule. How many current HS coaches will want to be out of varsity coaching for 2 years???? just something to think about...

I would think you would want a younger coach, not a brand new. It would be good to get someone who you know would be a solid foundation and stick around for a while. I would think someone who has worked at the high school level already would be a plus, maybe an assistant to some of these great coaches in West Tennessee. Or, you could go the route and get a proven winner and an assistant that would be in line to take over.

I respect your opinion. We just see it 2 different ways. You have some good points especially needing a coach to be patient enough to work with the players for two years before playing varsity. Dexter was ahead of the game when he started based on his playing experience. He was a superior player in Highschool & a very good player @ Union. Does being a good player automatically mean you will be a good coach... No but it did in Dexter's case. He always had a high Baskeball IQ and that has carried over to his coaching. Sorry but we are comparing apples to oranges when we compare the two guys from Medina middle and Dyer middle to Dexter. The age they started coaching might be the only way to put them in the same category. I'm not saying they can land a previous state champion but i think the coach needs more experience. Like the previous poster said why not take a look at some of the assistants on these really good programs in the area. I could see Vaughan and Lowery as a #2 waiting in the wings for their chance. That way they get some mentoring from an older coach and they still have their hand in building the program. If a young coach is the answer I want to throw Coach Durall's name in the mix. She has as much experience as the two you mentioned. She turned around a Dyer girl's program that went 0 for her first two seasons. Her team won the county tournament; beating a Vaughan coached Medina team to do so.

I've already told you guys NSHD is taking the SGHS job. He got the players to be named later rights , in the Pate, - Reedy trade and named H Butler, etc. He is building a 50,000 sq ft. house for Fussell , Reedy, Griffin, Glenn, Rechis to live in. Mayflower has been scheduled. He has airline tickets for he and Union coach Campbell to go to Kenya bringing back the 3 - /flower.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":flower:" border="0" alt="flower.gif" /> 7 footers a year before they go to UU, to round out the SGHS team.

Liberty chose a young middle school coach(i.e. vaughan and lowery). It worked for them, why do you think either of these two could not do the job? The few times I have seen their teams they looked well coached and disciplined.

liberty had a ton of future college ball player TALENT/Athleticism also! Dont get me wrong, Dex is an awesome coach, but to try and compare the kind of athletes S. GC will have to what Liberty was working with is truly unfair!

Yea we can't compare the talent pool but Dex has built a solid program. He has had talent come and go but He has kept his program top knotch. There aren't many programs that can make the jump from AA to AAA and stay as competitive as Liberty has. I credit that to the entire Liberty team but it all comes back to coaching!

They should hire Paige McMillan...........boy would those games be great ones to watch...... /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

It would def. be worth the price of admission!! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

What does everyone think about the delay in construction? It has already pushed the opening date back to November instead of August. If I was a betting man I would say there are more weather setbacks coming and I don't expect the school to be ready until after the first of the year.

I was not aware of the delay. How do you start out a school year in November or even January when the students would have already needed to be in school by then?

    • I remember very well watching things change in the late 80's and yes it's all schools. Most people that are in charge today have any idea because they were raised and taught under this social experiment so they don't have a clue. Anyone that does see the truth for what it is usually try and hide it by blending in so that the School Gestapo doesn't round them up and take them to the Fuhrer ( kindly putting it ). Yes it is all schools not just Maryville. This train ride is not headed in a good direction and if the public had seen a movie of what's happening now back in 1980 everyone would have been headed home afterwards to change underware.
    • Hoping to make the playoffs.
    • You are so correct!  It’s really 99.9% of academia want to change to way that education is not only taught but the way it is viewed.  The pendulum has definitely swung as far to the left as possible and eventually will swing to the right much too far.  I have always  said that politics and one’s personal religious views need to stay out of education,  but for the last 40 years education has been running full throttle to what we have today.  If the social experiment that we are currently experiencing continues it is only a matter of time before the public school system in the USA completely collapses and all kids attend private schools or even worse don’t go to school.
    • He was a bruise but Aaron Dykes is HVA’s best RB ever.
    • I am talking about what they both did for their team. They both carried their team for four years while they were both there. I wasn’t really comparing them that would be unfair. Bishop is on a level of his own.
