Your last comment is nothing short of stupidity... history if it is false, or slanted or biased or tampered with, is deceiving, but the facts that I listed about what temple has accomplished are not "deceiving" it actually happened...so not sure what you are talking about...like I said make all the "predictions" about what would have been...but guess what? it never happened....

anyways...i digress...I should have known people like you would pop up...just trying to say congrats to temple on making it to state even though we are not the best team this year...can't even win our district and region...however the body of work put together by this school is impressive...that was all I was trying to say... from coach wadley..to skogan, to marcum...good job (although I will say that this years team is THE most underachieving team I have seen at temple....ever)

More underachieving than the 2006 team that lost to Grace four out of five times and lost to Clay County at the Dawg House by one point and sat out of the state tournament that year?

I think "most underachieving ever" is an overstatement, but it has been a dissapointing year. The guys seemed to expect to win without much effort at times, and that attitude contradicts the mindset that has made them a "dynasty." That said, you know you've got a dynasty when a dissapointing season lands you in the state tournament.

Only at Temple would a 26-5 record and landing in the state tournament once again be underachieving. I wouldn't call it an "underachieving" year till the state tournament at least plays itself out. You never know what can happen.

Temple True you are peculiar...you claim you are Temple fan but dis-respect the players, coaches and the school by making comments about them when they have made it to the Big Dance. This thread is about the dynasty over the past 10 years. Kevin Templeton is by far the one who needs all the credit to Temple's success. The Skogens came to Temple to get away from CCS to play for Coach T. UNfortunatlety, Coach T took the university job and Dan Wadely stepped into the position after coaching the girls team. He inherited the most talented teams Temple has ever seen. A donkey could have led this team to the Gold Ball. Coach Wadely deserves alot of credit however because its not easy to be favored in every game and still win the title.

I say quit bickering about Temple and get behind them and support them. These kids have done nothing short of what has been asked of them and put it on the line every night! Underachieving??? I am proud of the crusaders and will be in attendence in the Murphy Center. Best of luck guys and go take care of business!!!

Once again, Temple True you are just one who has become bitter and spoiled....THEY ARE IN THE STATE TOURNEY!

Icy- I think Temple beat mitchell in the semi's in 2003 fyi...

grammer- the skogan family ARRIVED when jake was a fresh, caleb in 7th, seth in 5th...so wow yea that makes it weird huh... newson 8th, sexton 9th, and jarod...no clue people will always complain about this...whatever..

purple and whatever...where is union city this year? just wondering because they are still 1a... correct..??

It is easy for temple because they are better than the teams they play... and not sure how you can say temple's region and district are weak... how many gold and silver balls are in the region and district of Union city???

in 1999-2000 CCS was in temple's region They won gold

grace has 2 silver balls...one in 2004, and the other they received after being beat by union city... They are in Temple's district

CSAS has 1 silver ball losing to temple

Temple has 3 gold balls...

so since the 1999-2000 season Temple's district and region has accumulated 4 gold balls and 3 silver...I guarandamntee you that Union city's district region is nowhere near that...

Oh by the way the multiplier matters... if you have a big school you have more people to chose from if you have oh lets say less than 100 kids in the school....then you stay single A....

you are not a god or a prophet so you can make up what you want about what would or would not have happened but like you said...it is what it is...I gave the facts I gave history....what ACTUALLY happened...deal with it... I don't make $#%& up!!

CSAS is in

exactly!

CSAS has 2 silver balls not 1

You forgot the man that put it all together. The architect of the Temple program is Kevin Templeton, if you don't know that you don't know Temple basketball. It is hard to underacheiving when you are still playing.

Coach T, with the help of Lefty Glascock, certainly started the magic.

Words like "underachieving" and "dissapointing" come to some of us Temple's fans minds anytime there's a loss to Grace, much less 3. That is really unfair to the team though. They're 26-6, with 3 losses coming to AAA teams, and the other 3 to a Grace team that is my pick to win the state.

And for those who feel this team has underacheived, last year is a tough act to follow. Temple overachieved in the postseason, and set themselves up for astronomical expectations this year.

Yes...everyone on that team was a jr... skogen, smith, dee....and sexton and andrews and kemp were freshman....definitely disappointing, but not underachieving...

yomama...not sure how I am bitter and spoiled when I started this thread to congratulate a good team on a good year and a program on its success...ok not bitter maybe spoiled....but sorry don't get all offended when I say that this years team has underachieved... we went to the state tourny last year...and gave the best team there...the toughest game...we won our region..hosted a sectional game....WITH ALL JR.s or kids younger than that... we return EVERYONE from that team and can't win our district or region.... good year definitely...should it be better..yes and that is how I define underachieving...up until now jeremy has not played like he should...has not lived up to the hype...and marcum has allowed a lackadaisical attitude to prevail at times... just trying to be objective...if we win state obviously there is nothing underachieving about that...but this year I don't see that happening...

as far as kevin templeton being the architect for the temple program...I kinda agree but not really...he did the most with the least amount of talent...he had 5'8'' and 5'10'' unathletic kids winning games they had no business winning...they played some of the best defense in the state....however...when the skogens took over...and wadley "watched" or "coached" whatever you want to say... there was alot of talent on the floor, and the mindset of those teams changed...with the skogen's success...came the desire for other kids to attend a school that was winning championships, had the love of the times free press, and thus the program grew in to what it is today...

and I agree with dadofour...a dynasty exists when you can legitimately say it has been an underachieving season, and you are still one of the best 8 teams in the state with a chance at a gold ball.... congrats to the guys...please prove me wrong about having an underachieving year....

Exactly!! That is why it is underachieving (thus far)...with what happened last year...this team should have had more success....we have exactly the same players, but hopefully a year better...but like I said, I will be happy as a clam if proved wrong...

Why do you think the Skogans came to Temple? Temple was established as a winning program. Temple first won by out coaching and out working opponents, the first championship team was a mix of those work horses and talented players. I will admit will the addition of more talent the emphasise has change, and does not resemble teams of old but that is what sucessful programs do they adapt to their talent.

The walls may be painted, with new aplliances; but the foundation does not change.

No doubt that Kevin Templeton built Temple into what it is today. He turned it into a program. After he went to the college, Coaches Wadley, Skogen, and Marcum have all done an admirable job keeping that tradition going. I agree with asgoodasioncewas and others above, the Skogens came for a reason. The success that group had led to others wanting to come as well.

As far as this year's team underachieving, that is a very unfair label till the season is over. From my vantage point, if Temple would have beaten Grace in either/or the District or Region final, Temple fans would not feel so strongly about this. However, you guys still made it to the state tournament, which is something to always be excited about. Basketball is a tournament sport, and it's funny how a couple of games over one weekend can erase the disappointments of a season.
