New Era in Bradford

Ok; look people, if whats you people are saying about the talent level and the fact that it had nothing to do with Shane then lets just put it all out there: Coach McMillan had nothing todo with GC winning it all... RIGHT? I mean they were just simply the most talented top to bottom of anyone they played!!! ANYBODY IN THEIR RIGHT MIND AGREE WITHT THAT... those girls would have been 37-0 with just anyone on the bench??? Didnt think so!

Hey wait.... That means that Coach Summit stinks as a coach but she just gets the best talent in... hahah ... I mean its not like the players have to get any better over the course of two or three years.... Those girls in Bradford were good enough as JR HIGH PLAYERS to win 27 and 26 games if they never got any better from their Jr. High talent level?!?!?!?!?! If the coach had nothig to do with

ANY COACH that does what Paschall did is a direct reason for the success. How many talented teams never accomplish anything?????? I know how much work the guy put in and how much he wanted to turn that program around! Quit giving him credit with one hand and then taking it away with the other! By the way a few of you are talking: when a coach loses its all their fault and when they win it has very little to do with the coach!

McMillan didn't have anything to do with Gibson Co winning the gold ball! /wacko.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="wacko.gif" /> He just had good players, he can't coach a lick! HeavyD will tell ya the truth....

When I read this, I thought maybe Paschall was headed to Gleason....

He may have been part of the reason, but he wasn't THE reason (unless he was out in the backyard shooting hoops with the girls when they were 5 years old, or coaching them in elementary school, etc.) The girls I mentioned have an incredible work ethic, too. Their commitment and effort are a big reason for success.

It was actually an 18-0 run for Bradford (after a 11-1 run by Clarkrange), but here's why that point is not meaningless. Tasha Phillips hits both foul shots. That's TWO points. Bradford loses by ONE in OT.

You can't think I'm going to buy into your point on the Bradford boys! Eddings is the winningest coach in Bethel women's BB history.

If you think I don't like Paschall, go back and re-read the second paragraph of my original post. Best of luck to Shane in his next endeavor.

I was referring to Eddings days at gibson coutny

Not a knock on Coach Paschall, he is a good guy. But a key reason for Bradford's success over the past 5 years has been talent (Proudfit, Oliver, Tubbs, Wallsmith and others).

Funny how there was no talent in Bradford before David Russell, then there was an abundance of talent for what, 15 years until he left. (And please do not insert anything any here about Wild and winning the state - the janitor could have taken that team to state, which was Russell's) There was no talent there for a few years, and then it reappears magically when Paschall takes over ???? Coaching definitely makes a difference. Good luck to whomever it may be.

Let me start by saying Coach Paschall is a good coach and did a good job at Bradford. He is no Kevin McMillan, Randy Frazier or Larry Eddings and he has his own style of coaching that worked most of the time. Coach Pascall had the good fortune of having more talent than most teams that he played the last 2 years but not early in his career. I have nothing against Coach Paschall and he is a friend of mine. I dont like the screaming and verbal part of Coach Paschall's courtside coaching. I have seen his girls just quit when he gets to screaming in more than a few games and camps.

Bradford had a pretty good Jr. High team with this group of girls but Bradford was very lucky to have several key players transfer in since Jr. High. Erica Oliver transferred from Westview, Morgan Arnold transferred from West Carroll and both those girls have made All District and All Region the last two years in High School and they both could have been All State this past year. Another transfer that played and contributed big on last years team was Callandria, (I'm sorry but I forgot her last name) a post player which gave them depth. I really think those three additions did more for Bradford's future than anything else.

Bradford will move on and will still have a very good team next year regardless of who the new coach is. I look for it to be a real good year for 14A and another season where it could go several different ways. Lake County has to be the early favorite but Bradford is right behind them.

There are many thoughts that come to my mind when I read some of these comments. First, anyone that thinks Coach Paschal is not a good coach either doesnt know anything about basketball or they dont like him as a person. Either way, there is no basketball objectiveness in their statements. Whether you like him or not, you can not objectively refute what he has done on the court.

If I understand correctly, Larry Eddings will be the new head coach. He is a fine man, and knows a thing or two about basketball himself. He will do just fine. No matter who the coach is at Bradford next year, this district is going to be very exciting.

Just out of curiosity, does anyone have any reliable info. as to why Coach Paschal resigned?

you mean after all the talk of transfers being the reason for 7a being so good 14a has them to.

    • Jason Lambert should be the only choice for the Baseball coaching position.
    • From the stats I found online it looks like Gabe Eddington- .484, 44 total hits, 43 runs scored and 42 stolen bases.Meanwhile, on the mound, the Austin Peay commit had a record of 8-2, while compiling 50 innings pitched with an ERA of 1.82. Carson Parrott - 7-0 overall as a starting pitcher with a 1.41 ERA, 95 strikeouts and a save in 53 and 1/3 innings pitched. Parrott hit .392 with 3 home runs, 21 RBIs with a .566 OBP and .716 SLG. Jaxon Walker - .454, 53 hits, 38 RBI’s, 9 HRs.   Not saying the other three aren’t deserving but Quillen had better BA than all three and was just as dominate pitching.  Like I said I don’t know how you leave off the 3a Baseball player of the year last year when he put up better numbers.  I know Greeneville’s Coach wasn’t happy about it saying “I don’t give a s*** what anybody else says. That kid is the best player in Tennessee, and everybody else on our team rises to his level“.  I’m sure winning another State Championship as a junior is more important to Carson than the individual award, it’s just a head scratcher to not be nominated
