09-10 best freshmen

Justice Swett is good, but she is not an exceptional point guard. She'll play 2 or 3 for a loaded Ensworth Team. Ensworth has a killer point guard (can't remember her name). Justice is a great defender - long arms and fairly big for her age.

 

I'm not convinced that Justice Swett is a better player than Derica Wyatt at FRA. With my money, i'd have to go with Derica Wyatt.

 

From what I understand, Team Pride has consistently begged Wyatt to be on that team. She opted to play elsewhere and didn't get the publicity. But she is every bit the player and then some. She is a pure shooter, who when hot, can be unconscious shooting 3's. When someone tries to defend her from the 3, she'll slash you to death.

 

Having said that, I agree with an earlier poster who said there would be a lot of impact freshman this year. Swett will definitely be in that group.

Justice will play point as she did last year during their state tournament run. Carpenter is a natural 2 guard who ran the point when necessary. Paige Parker is an excellent player who rarely gets flustered.

JULIA FOX AT LEBANON WILL BE A BIG ADDITION FOR THE DEVILETTES.SHE IS ONE OF THE BEST SHOOTERS I HAVE SEEN,GREAT BALL HANDLER ALSO.SHE ALSO PLAYED WITH HANNAH GOOLSBY ON TENN ELITE AS THEIR SHOOTER,PROBABLY WILL START AT THE 2 GUARD FOR LEBANON.I AGREE, THERE ARE ALOT OF GOOD FRESH ACROSS THE STATE.

I cant speak of everyone in the mid state but I know Rutherford Co, also has a good crop of 8th graders coming up. If its not already in the next few years 7AAA will be the toughest district in the state in girls basketball

Maelyn Cutshaw of South Greene!

 

She is good enough to start honestly, but She'll probably be 6th man.

 

 

Maelyn will be a standout, she is amazing. Javan Wilhoit is also a Freshman at SGHS who made the varsity team. She has a great 3 point shot.

Meeks has a bright future ahead of her, I look forward to watching her play for the Lady Jackets.

She has D1 potential because she is almost 6 foot and a point guard who can see the floor, score, rebound, and pass the ball. She is a total package.

 

I brought this post over from another thread to add Haley Meeks to this list and just add that she is one tough competitor. At a Team Pride open gym Coleman was running about 50+ girls thru a 2 on 2 drill where you had to score to stay on the floor. Meeks was one of the first 2 on offense and sent 45 girls off the floor. She scored 15 times straight from all over the floor. Unfortunately Coleman took her off the floor before she beat out all 50+. Good Luck at Grundy...have fun, stay fierce!

Tori Reedy started for Gibson Co. tonight! Jasminne Whittemore was the first or second off the bench for GC tonight as well! They're both great players and both are very good. Tori had 2 points, I believe, and Whittemore had 4, I believe.

The more I'm seeing Shamone Pearson from Lake Co..,the more I'm impressed..Shamone had 20 or more against Brighton last night as she got to run the team with T.T.Flowers and Carnation Hart on the bench with such a lop sided score..!

Riverside (Decatur Co.) has some very good freshmen coming in. Brooke Kennedy & Laura Villaflor are a couple that have been contributing a lot to a Lady Panther squad that I think will surprise some folks this year.

Silverdale Academy guard Mariah Massengale has put up 20 or more points in each of the reports I've seen. Nice start.

We really got to see a lot of Maelyn Cutshaw for South Greene Tonight against Morristown East. She was the first one off the bench and played much of the game. She did a great job and looked like she will fit in just fine.
