Yes its true SCHS outplayed and outworked and quite frankly outcoached CCHS. The lady red looked as if they didn't want to be there or that all they had to do was show up. Congrats to the bearettes and good luck vs JCHS.

Congrats to Coach Cloniger and the East squad-1st trip to regionals in 9yrs-as mentioned in previous post Tracy should be IMAC coach of the year for how far she has brought this bunch

I agree - great win for East tonight, but, how can you justify giving Coach of the year to someone whose team is barely over .500 right now?

Quite simple. The COY goes to the coach who has done the best job with what they have-MWHS is so good that anyone could coach them -just stay out of their way-this is NOT to take anything from Galyon b/c he is a good coach-but Coach Cloniger't East squad was supposed to stink , they have been bad and were picked near the bottom of the league. She HAS gotten the most out of a team with very little. She has given those kids new life and a newfound love for the game when most of them could have cared less due to the last knucklehead in there who totally demoralized these kids and it is for this reason she deserve to be COY

Coach C has done a good job this year with East, and is certainly better than what they have had in the past. But it is not like they have a bunch of players that are no good. They have solid post play, good outside shooters, and some very good young players. The fact still remains that they may finish this season with a losing record. As good as she is, that is not deserving of Coach of the year. A coach that ends up with a record of 13-14 or even 14-12 should never get that award over a coach, like Galyon, whose team has been, and still is, ranked #1 in the state , will probably have well over 30 wins, and has a legitimate shot of winning the state championship. Tracy will continue to build a good program at East and may, one day, deserve this honor, but this year is not it.

Yessir, Raiderray, that is correct. Sevier has pulled off what is easily the biggest shocker of the post season thus far. Congratulations to Stacy Marine's Bearettes.

I don't see why this is such a shocker...this is a Buda-less Lady Red team....they are basically a one-horse team right now and extremely vulnerable to an effective defense. Greeneville man-handled them without her. Will they have her back for the tourney?

Definitely not a shocker.

And that was their tourney. They had hoped maybe to get her back next week. But there won't be a next week for them.

Which is a sad story for her... She had worked extremely hard to try to come back.

Man I hate to hear that...those 2 have had quite a journey from when they were "the freshmen".

As a basketball fan, I must say that Mo West is one of the most complete basketball teams I have seen in girls basketball. #1 is a smooth, graceful big girl, #2 is a low post presence, and the point guard is very fast. It will take a heck of a team to beat them.

As for the South-Doyle girls, they need to hit the weight room hard. They are very young and not greatly talented. They will have to outwork and out hustle teams to win games. They must get stronger. Next year will be here before we know it.

By the way, South-Doyle's overall record in the major sports (football and basketball) is 8-62. 4-26 in both girls and boys b-ball and 0-10 in football. Does anyone else find that alarming?

    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
    • An FYI: To see how an opponent has done against another opponent since 2001- go to the game by clicking on one of the teams. Click the G beside the game. For example, Milan: The info will show you the previous matchups and other info.
    • All these college signees went yo other schools for 3 years, were getting college offers then transferred to Bearden. It’s not like this staff did much to develop them.    The BBall coaches son and the Seymour transfer were some of the most talented QBs in the region, and you guys developed them into QBs who might complete one pass a game.
