Well ..what i took from the south-DB game last night was it seemed to me that south had no speed side line to side line, and were not very physical on the outside at all..now that could be attributed to DBs speed maybe some what..but there backers and ends were slowwww. That will not be the case this week.

04 ..i agree THS has never been intimidated by DB..but respected yes and they have always gotten our best shot..well except last year :?: but I think this team will throw some combinations with the 6 headed monster in the back field:TG,KS,BT,MP,CH,OG. That DB will not see coming :?:

Not to take anything away from DB they are a solid team that has played a murderous schedule so far against some very tough teams. Should be a good one. :flower:

This game it BIG for both teams!!! Does anybody not believe that this could very well be the Conference Championship game now? :flower:

If TN High can take this game then quite possibly it could be the Conference Championship. The way I see it, TN High wins out, well they win it all.

If they lose to DB and Boone but they win out the rest, then Boone takes the championship since in a head to head tie, Boone is over DB.

If TN High wins this but loses to Boone and not South.......3 way tie for the 1st place spot?

If TN High wins this, beats Boone, loses to South, that should stick them in 2nd?

If DB wins this, but loses to Boone and South, that should stick them in third place...

Lots of football to play, huge game as far as the conference champtionship.

I love a positive attitude toward your team!! We still have some BIG games to play in the Bid 9 (Big 8, my bad) no doubt. Boone is they only question mark I personally have.... and it's a little scary. I got the other two's number and believe me.... game is on!!!

Im alot more excited about seeing this game now than I was just a week ago thats for sure.

Weeeeelllllll... if it aint Mr. FAIR WEATHER FAN himself! :flower: Who you for this game DB or THS... lets just go ahead and get that out into the open. :?:

Now I know where BTaylormom was last night. Sounds like you two tied one on. You need to sober up a little before you post anymore. You are confusing me posting about my displeasher with the coaches and the program with somebody that just pulls for their team when their winning. I have never stoped pulling for the Indians. Im headed toward 6,000 post just here on CoachT pulling for DB. I don't have another high school team that I pull for. Lets see...... was it you that skipped the Tennesse High-Volunteer game last night just to see South put it on DB? How dissapointing that must of been. Were you one of the long line of cars seen leaving the stadium during the third quarter? Now just who is a FAIR WEATHER FAN ?? :?:

How many of those post were truly positive or helpful DB post??? But hey ..... I'm not the one you have to answer to.... and we can leave it at that.... it's your choice??

What are some observations that might be possible from recent games that would help anyone gain some insight into this game? Teams that spread DB's defense gives them problems. South did not have enough speed in the backfield to get to the outside and therefore DB was able to keep everyone tight in the box. This did not allow South to use their ground game until it was too late. Also allowed DB to keep pressure on the QB. Clinton and Boone were able to keep the defense spread and run the ball in the middle, pass to the outside or run to the outside. South appears to have a very good team but not a lot of team speed. They do not close on the ball quick enough to stop a runner like CS. If DB is able to establish the game tempo, this allows them to have a big advantage. DB plays much better when they do not have to pass, only passing by design instead of being forced into a passing situation. TH appears to have more team speed than South but not as physical. TN will need to team tackle and not miss tackles. Missed tackles hurt South several times early in the game. TH will need to play fast, move the ball on the ground and use the pass to the backs to setup the ground game. They will need to get pressure on the QB to force quick decisions. TH needs to score early to establish confidence and play aggressive from the start. TH's ability to establish the running game will play a major role in the outcome of this game. I hope team plays their best game, with each team being free from injury. Assuming turnovers are keep minimal by both teams, my guess: DB 28 TH 21. Good luck to both teams!

I just wan't to say first, it's hard to get up for two big games in a row. Without a doubt the game coming up should be a harder game for us. However, i'm glad we're playing on the road. Our fans were huge last night in getting the players jacked up. Tenn High has a good team this year i believe after watching one replay on tv. Shepherd looks like a very talented runningback and the fullback is good also. I believe they can throw a little better than they have in the past, and i look for more of that.On the other hand, if we play with the same inspiration and emotion as we did last night it's going to be business as usual. Theirs no reason any of these local teams should even be able to play with us. Not arrogance, guys it's the truth. Everyone else around here only plays other local schools. A program cannot get better doing this. Try playing in Knoxville every other week for a few years and you will find out what level your program is at. Doing this, we've been at the top throughout! I'm looking forward to Friday and another exciting game. I hope this means we're back! Roll Tribe Roll............

OMG... are you kidding me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't make a habit of this, but I WILL have to pull this one back out on ya DB91!!! And your comment "I believe they can throw a little better than they have in the past".... booooyyyy are you in for a supprise!!! Best QB in the conference, WITH OUT A DOUBT.... you better ask somebody. And let me clear something else up... without the Maryville road block in Knoxville WE here in the EAST (TN High, South, Mo West) are now in control in 5A!! Of course we already know the same won't be said about DB and 6A. I can tell right now... I'm going to have trouble this week with the arrogance poring through every word you post... I may just keep my distance and let my boys on the field (who are more than capable of taking care of CS....oh.... I mean DB.... my bad) handle their business!! Peace... I'm out!!!! :thumb:

I can't help it. :thumb:

Don't believe the hype!!! Not many will "establish the running game" against that blitz package... it is a rubics cube. THS will have to establish the passing game (which is our thang this year) to open up the running game. Spreading them overly aggressive linebackers and defensive ends out and getting them on their heels will dismantle DBs defensive strategy. Some of you really have no clue of what you are getting ready to face... and that's just plain out disrespectful, even if we are just a lil ol local school.:thumb:

I think the key for Tennessee High is to avoid the unnecessary mistakes and prevent DB from jumping to a two or three touchdown lead. That big of a lead will cause any offense to be out of rhythm. Tennessee High came out flat this week and understandably so after wins over Science Hill and Greeneville. The Vikes never take DB lightly and they play hard whether the game is close or not.

The DB running game is a bit of concern. Tennessee High will have to get a hold of CS; The Vikings have faced some quick backs thus far, but I don't think they have faced anyone as strong as CS, except in practice of course.

What about the threat of a passing game from DB? Steele is fast no doubt, but DB didn't really have to depend on a passing game last night.

I think it's important for the Vikes to establish a passing game early. If not, DB will pin their ears back. One week I hear from DB posters that the DB line can't play worth anything and then last night they dominate against what some might consider to be a great offensive line. I'm not sure how well Tennessee High's line will matchup against DB's. Greeneville held TN High to 100 yards rushing, granted Shepard was sick, but Tennessee was able to find success throwing the ball.

As people have stated on another thread,DB looked relaxed last night.

Roop throwing a td pass to Steele jump started them and got the running

game going. If DB can play THS like they did against South,it will be for

the conference title. The Vikes are gooooood this year. They stared slow at

Volunteer, but got on track.Look for a exciting game.

Still early for that, if Boone wins out and DB wins out... you could have some potential ties in there to see who the conference champs are. I believe overall record might come into play...and yes you can argue that DB had a tougher schedule... but that is the way things roll I guess. I guess the way the conferences are going there will be about 3 more conference championship games to play...hmm

    • I will never forget the 1983 Heritage vs Maryville game. I remember driving home and listening to WGAP. Can't remember the announcers name. He asked Coach Story why he kept going for 2? Story told him " Why didn't you ask Renfro that last year"
    • TSSAA will let them all go to Mase.
    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
    • I would not put too much stock into the UH over Eagleville. From what I understand they were pretty banged up in that tourney. Catcher was out, they were throwing pretty deep in their bullpen and a few key players were beat up in their infield. Sounds like they are pretty healthy heading into the district tournament. Look at their schedule, they played some really good teams.
