Who every the new hire is, that coach has to be able to bring in an entire new staff.

I don't see that happening. No coach can ever bring in a complete staff of 8-12 guys. Most schools don't have that many free teaching slots for coaches unless they are math or science teachers. Are any of the current coaches wanting to stay or worth keeping?

LOL. Rankin, really? Why there? Would make NO sense for him. On a serious note, obviously the program needs a change, someone to believe in and get behind that won't run a New York Jets style offense. Good luck.

New offense? Really? This past year had over 3500 yards of offense, what's wrong with that?

From my recollection there weren't but maybe a couple of non-tenured coaches that can be replaced. There were 3 non-faculty, so either find more non-faculty or find 3 spots for them, then, what, 4-5 other spots that need to be filled by either current staff or find that many positions for new coaches. That would be a show of support. :thumb:

Scott Smith would clash with everybody in this county.

Maybe Willmore can bring David Pack in here? :thumb:

When Rankin was at Riverdale he only had 6-8 paid assistants.

Is that freshman thru varsity or varsity only?

That was just 'Varsity', Freshman team had about 8 of their own and they ALL worked together during the Varsity games. At one time R'dale had more coaches on the sidelines than some teams I have seen in Tennessee. :roflol:

I do NOT know how many were paid 'coaches', but there was a BUNCH at one time.

I was talking about paid coaches since everyone on here wants to say that Warren County will not let a coach bring in people. A new coach here might want to go to some of the past successful players and coaches for volunteer help. It would be a good thing to get folks like Danny Martin, Alan Lynn, Bobby Newby, Pedro Paz, Billy Rutledge etc. to volunteer along with whoever the new coach brings with him. We can't keep doing the same thing over and over and expect different results. I don't think anyone can or will fault the previous staff when it comes to teaching boys to be moral men, but I think that the new coach should start from scratch like the basketball coaches did. Whether they are paid or volunteer, we need to get people who have been winners to be able to teach and expect winning.

Per the TSSAA you are only 2 non faculty coaches. All others have to be teachers.

2009-2010 TSSAA bylaws page 8 states 3 non faculty coaches for football and 2 for Basketball. Any retired/non employed teacher/coach with 5 years experience and holding a valid teaching certificate can coach. this alone would allow for 5 volunteers from the hypothetical list I used previously plus the 6 regular paid assistants. Any team should be able to do well with a head coach and 11 assistants. No matter how we look at it, we need to get the best people in as soon as it is possible. Have heard that there are around 30 official applicants plus several inquiries from the range of assitant coaches to some ex professional athletes. I have not heard any names other than the same rumors going around that everyone has heard. I would like to say that it is good that there is so much interest and that the coments on this thread are staying so positive!

    • Yeah, but if he goes to Science Hill they are guaranteed at least a win over Kingsport and that's basically the NET Superbowl
    • I expect Sevier County might be pretty good, perhaps Mo West as well.     But I don't see either of them getting out of round 2.          The rest of the region gets smoked in round 1.            Except for those once-in-a-blue-moon anomaly years the NET big schools are pretty much the same every season.
    • Wanted to see if all of you would lift up Kyle James family in prayer. Kyle was one of the best wrestlers to ever come out of Soddy Daisy and as some of you know he lost his house a few weeks ago and now his family and friends mourns his passing. Not sure if any of you were around in early 2000’s when Kyle was wrestling at Soddy, but he was a 3 time state champ and a Fargo AA along with going to Colorado to train to make the Olympic team. That goal was never reached due to medical issues, but he was an amazing wrestler and his family is as good as gold. If you were around at that time and have any pictures of Kyle, please go onto Alexy Winesburgh FB page and post. Thanks, Doug Benton
    • My opinion the 8 teams will be-  Greenback, Wartburg, Gordonsville, Jo Byrns, Eagleville, Bruceton, Dresden, and South Fulton. Gordonsviile is probably the favorite but I wont say it will be an easy road. With the right draw any of the 8 could win it.
    • I understand Gibson Co. will be announced tomorrow with a familiar name. Not sure about So. Gibson.
