to Wilcoisthebest- I do love your support for INDY but you need to stop sniffing that glue, FHS has not impressed you of late, thier last five(5) games

28-6

28-12

21-0 (INDY)

20-21 (Brentwood)

34-14 (playoff)

**not to mention the most points they have given up is 21 (loss) 19 (loss) 16,14,and 14 ** so they have a very tough defense

so to say this game will be a shootout is way off base -INDY will have to play perfect on offense and FHS will have to have alot of blown coverages and missed tackles for this to happen

When they played INDY Heckman was 8-22 74 yds

Heckman 19-39 rushing and Meeker 9-43

Ford 15 - 124 8.3 rush ave

Lee -9 - 43 4.3 rush ave

Matt Kuivinen 6/13 107 17.8 yds

look i want nothing more to shut up the FHS fans and INDY to win , but give credit to FHS...

INDY has no chance to win unless the keep FORD and LEE from running wild, Indy needs to keep the ball for a long time and the offense needs to mix it up.... alot to ask but they can do it

My money is on Independence, simply because Franklin has not impressed me in the slightest over the past few weeks. Franklin has been teetering on the edge, and I think the Eagles will drop the feather that breaks the Rebels backs (and season). For those of you that think this is an impossibility, does anybody remember 2007? I know that people are aware that INDY can not stop the running game, and I would counter that Franklin's defense is suspect as well. Big players make big plays, and the key players on Franklin's defense seem to always be on the wrong side of those "big plays". Franklin's safety (#28... I think) has been scored on twice over the past two weeks, and one of those scores gave the game away to Brentwood. Franklin's front-7 (I do not have any specific numbers) got knocked around and dominated against Overton for the majority of the game. This game could quickly become a scoring match, I think this game comes down to who performs better The senior Alex Heckman or the seniors Alex Ford & Keylo Lee. And Ford has already shown he has the ability to cough the ball up, and the game (against Brentwood)... Big players make big plays.

I have to totally agree with you. This season reminds me so much of the 2007 season for Indy at least the playoff picture... started off to a slow year in 07, just like 09, got on a good roll mid way through the season in 07, just like 09 we got killed by franklin at our house during the regular season in 07, just like 09, different order in playoffs, but had to travel to memphis to play an undefeated team...a 13-0 Millington (07)/a 10-0 arlington (09). Walked off both of the fields with one more win. Oh by the way...we stopped at arlington to warm up/ stretch out at arlington in 07 oddly enough. Then, we get another shot at franklin, in 07, amazing game, last minute drive, great unbelievable catch to set up the last second field goal by Veres, in 09, we get another shot at franklin, result TBD...what do you think?

Im an Indy fan but in 07 we got beat by franklin at their field.. and we beat them at home during the playoffs..

You have done nothing but bash Franklin all year long. Your opinion does not matter any to me.

Oh and a little news flash for you: Alex Heckman, not the second coming. Fathom that.

Heckman has more talent in one finger than you do in your entire body.. Sitting here on the computer talking about the guys out there playing the sport you worship.. Not saying we are going to win but I am saying that you should think before you speak.

INDY NATION, please stop drinking the Kool - Aid ! It's not 2007. It's 2009, and your team did not beat one 6A District opponent this year. What has changed since FHS beat Indy 21-0 to make any of you believe that Indy has a good opportunity to win ? As for FHS the last time the Rebels defeated Indy Ford and Lee were about 80 per cent in terms of being physically prepared to play. This week they will be back to 100 percent. This will be bad news for Indy this coming Friday.

PS. INDY NATION, please try to stay for the entire game this time and don't run away when Indy folds again in the 3rd Quarter.

Exactly what does Indy not beating a single 6A district opponent have to do with this game. Last time I checked you do not get extra points or wins in the playoffs because you won district games. What Franklin gets is a home game and Indy gets to go on the road. The only stat that really means a darn thing is that we are both 1-0 going into Friday.

Yes, Franklin can be beat. Can Indy do it? That remains to be seen. As a high school football fan this one should be a good game to attend. Here's to a dry, injury free game.

This should be a lot closer than many think. One stat. that I don't think many have realized is that Indy is 2-3 at home this season and 5-1 away, with their one away loss @ Brentwood, and we all know about that game :roflolk:

Franklin has been teetering on the edge? Franklin has won 6 of their last 7 (including a 21-0 thrashing of this same Indy team) and their only loss in that stretch came in a game against Brentwood on a flooded field. Without the rain, the Rebels would have almost surely won that game, as they would not have dropped the extra point snap or fumble in the last minute...Franklin's defense suspect? Don't know what games you have been watching but they have carried the team for most of the year. #28 plays strong safety by the way which most of the time is a roll-down LB and was not responsible for the play against BHS...front 7 did not get dominated against overton, both scores came on two big PASS plays...and A-Ford and Keylo have and will perform better than Heckman (watch game film of franklin's 21-0 victory against indy just a few weeks ago)

Heckman is a decent high school QB, but you are giving him way to much credit. If he was that good dont u think he could have led his offense to at least a point against franklin last time? Just saying.

    • Never said I thought it was a smart decision. I'm scratching my head at it too.
    • If he wanted to play QB he should have either went to Heritage or William Blount and had a real good chance there. In stead he'll be exactly what he was going to be at Maryville. They already know who their QB is going to be in 2025 and it ain't going to be him.
    • Easier said than done. The man who ran for 250+ yards and 3TDs is gonna be back….and a lot bigger.
    • plus it removes the pressure around winning.
    • You are correct.   The teacher's pay scale is virtually the same in Knox County, now, as it is at Oak Ridge.   The coaching supplements are still higher at Oak Ridge, from what I was told, but not a huge difference.   Plus, Rusty is going from a position coach to an OC position, which is what he was at South Doyle and where his comfort zone is.  And from a special education teaching slot to a PE teaching slot.  There is a lot of positivity in that move without even considering the coaching aspect.   Anybody who sees something negative here is just looking for negativity to begin with.  But some live in that world.   Really good hire for Brent.  He now has two experienced and quality coordinators and can concentrate on being a head football coach.
