Gov
The long hair and earrings and all that...I guess that's what Tommy Frist and Ricky want over there. It is what it is, I suppose. Glad to hear the BA folks I sat with noticed it also, and generally share the same opinions about EHS that I have. Not sure what you are trying to say, surely you are not bias to any socially, or cultural lifestye that some of these young adults may have. owlbooster
Very good points. MBA's division games this year have all come down to who had fewer turnovers, and what little I saw of last night's game was no different. Ahhhhhhhh! Those TOs...the great equalizers! Just when we thought the pecking order had been established, it's a brand new dog fight.

I'm actually surprised it took someone from EHS as long as it did to go "there." I don't recall seeing any BA players, regardless of cultural background, with hair hanging out of their helmets or wearing earrings. I have no idea why you people are so trigger happy at EHS with this stuff...
Treadstone
When Ensworth calls next summer for their annual $1,000 donation for their football media guide I am going to refuse. Instead I am going to donate $500.00 to the middle school - since that is the only "real" Ensworth people know anymore. The high school might as well be called some other name. The other $500.00 will go to Shane Company Jewelers in a special fund set up for football and basketball players. After all, if Coach Bowers is going to let a few players war earrings then there should be more opportunity for the whole team. Congrats, Coach Bowers, your lack of discipline just cost you a grand. This is, without a doubt, the dumbest post I have read on here. Ever. If you are close-minded enough to judge a school or a coach by some kids wearing earrings then you don't deserve to donate your $1,000. Get your grand in rolls of quarters, put em in a bag, and beat yourself upside the head with it.
truthhurts
Actually, I think the post was spot on. Anyone who knows Ricky Bowers and knows the "family tree" of coaches that he comes from will argue that NONE of his mentors (Tommy Owen and Carlton Flatt) would ever let their players wear earrings on the sideline, after games, etc. One can argue "modern times" as long as you want but the fact remains the Ricky has strayed far from the way he was schooled and has lost respect in the community and amongst those who have known him for many years. He is a fine coach but has lost a lot of friends in the process of his "empire building".
Antwan
great game....one of the best I've seen in a while. This one was played at a really high level on both sides. BA's campus is terrific. When was the new building on the opposite side of the stands built? It looks terrifc with the lighting. Great crowd as well...of course, the whole night made me laugh about some of the comical "debates" we've had on the public-private board with guys like Rick regarding the status of D2 and the absurd Tuesday and Wednesday night championship games, like of TV coverage, etc. The stands were packed with 2 of the biggest brands in the biggest market in TN (I'll leave the "affluence" factor out). The game was covered on both TV and radio. I've watched all those Thursday night games and that's by far the biggest crowd that's been on hand for any of them. It was truly standing room only. That is an advertising/marketing goldmine, but I'm sure we'll hear great "theories" from Rick about how the advertisers checked the attendance of D2 the BCB in Cookeville and decided not to televise our championships... Potter puts a lot of pressure on the QB position. I think #10 for BA is really a good one. He has a lot of responsibility every play with option reads, passing, etc., especially with the hurry-up offense they use. Maybe too much; hence the mistakes early. BA seemed to have the game in hand after the early misues and seemed to be wearing EHS down. I thought BA would run away with it in the second half but credit the EHS defense for hanging tough and bottling up the speedy BA backs. They are so fast and physical on defense. Still I thought Potter's gameplan was a good one as they were putting a lot pressure on the EHS defense with so many snaps. EHS looked gassed at the end of the 1st half. Bowers is so much like Flatt. They play hard, disciplined football and sort of bide their time until an opponent makes the mistake. Ricky keeps it simple on offense. And Potter/BA flinched late in the game with the last int. The long hair and earrings and all that...I guess that's what Tommy Frist and Ricky want over there. It is what it is, I suppose. Glad to hear the BA folks I sat with noticed it also, and generally share the same opinions about EHS that I have. I wouldn't get too excited about the crowd. BA has stands on only one side. The stands were filled...but what does it hold...maybe 1500? I agree about the building on the other side...beautiful background. Both teams were loaded with athletes. It was a fun game to watch. Ensworth made the big plays to win. If they do play again...it will be a good one too.

It doesn't mean they are classless punks, or thugs. Am I a personal fan of earrings.....NO. But it doesn't make any difference in the game. He might have lost some friends "along the way" except he took the model of Coach Flatt and has maximized it. He's gained a lot of friends along the way, and the most important one is Mr. Frist who built the school. Maybe some people from BA are jealous that he isn't coaching there. I am not a fan of Ensworth, but there are 1000's of public school kids with earrings. There are some in private school. Lebron James had tattoos, does that mean you shouldn't "allow" him to play with them?
rollredroll
I am not a fan of Ensworth. You joined the website 12 hours after EHS gets back on the radar... ...your first post is the starting of a thread about EHS... ...and all of your subsequent posts have been about and/or in defense of EHS. Yet, you are not a fan? Doubtful.
FridayFootballFan
I watched this one on Television. I thought it was one of the better high school games I have seen in a while. The game was played fast, and I think that is where Ensworth won this one. Fast Ensworth Defense neutralized the fast Offense of BA. BA showed a lot of heart on that last drive, moving down the field very quickly with minimal time remaining. Ensworth made that "one more play" that sealed the deal. I look forward to MBA versus BA to help clarify (or muddy) the picture.
