Purple & Gold Standard
Well, it's come down to this...After a season long struggle against one of the strongest 4A schedules in the state the Obion County Central Rebels can end the regular season at 5-5 and hopefully slide into the playoffs...In their way is another strong team that comes into Troy with a winning record...Ripley is 7-2 and 4-1 in district action...If Shawn Jackson can get his team in he will become the only Rebel coach ever to steer his team into the playoffs in back to back seasons...19 Rebels will see their final regular season action at home... Looking at the OC schedule you will see that Sikeston,MO is 9-0, Crockett County is 7-2, Cape Central,Mo is 8-1, Covington is 6-3, Martin Westview is 6-3, Ripley is 7-2...They have played four teams with losing records...Fulton County, KY is 1-8, Gibson County is 0-9, Union City is 4-5 and Dyersburg is 2-7....Combined is 50-40... Both teams run the spread...I hear Ripley has some real good athletes...What else is new for OC to see good athletes??...OC doesn't really defend the run real good nor the pass..Ripley,from it's scores, seems to have a pretty good defense...That will be the difference...Who can stop who ?? PG - Ripley is loaded with athletes. They have an outstanding defense and have speed all over the field. I am not for sure how much of the spread they have seen before so you guys might have an advantage there. Good Luck to both teams!!

GCPioneer
Pg, watch #2 for ripley at wr. The dude is an absolute beast at his position and will be playing somewhere next year on saturdays. I hope you guys have speed to run with him because they will throw the fade everytime to him if they can.

We can look at it this way also, OC's 4 wins came against teams that are a combined 7-29....Now that's respectful...lol But OC did beat UC this year so you can call that a successful season no matter what else happens..lol! Purple & Gold Standard
We can look at it this way also, OC's 4 wins came against teams that are a combined 7-29....Now that's respectful...lol But OC did beat UC this year so you can call that a successful season no matter what else happens..lol! And LC put 60 on UC...Respectful as well... UC wins have come against teams with a 12-23 combined record...What's more strange is the 5 teams that have beaten UC are only 7 games over .500....The 5 teams that have beaten OC are 43-11... Looks as if you were going to talk trash about a team you would pick someone you have beaten or could back up your trash talk with an impressive record yourself...And conversely if you talk about success, you got to talk about utter failure getting beat by OC... Maybe you can get on Halls... Edited October 25, 2010 by Purple & Gold Standard
VOREBS
Ripley and OC....OC needs a win to get in, based on what most think. Ripley athletic as always, and OC is coming in playing pretty well. OC must be consistant on "D", and deal with the speed of Ripley. There needs to be, and SHOULD be a packed house at Rebel Field on THURSDAY night. Hey, I think it is the only game around that night. This is a good Rebel ball club, and I think they will answer the bell Thursday night, and in doing so, punch their ticket for Week 11. GO REBELS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LU_the_Eagle
Coach Hill made playoffs his first two years at OC, while Bowling continued the streak to 3 with Bowling picking up OC's FIRST and ONLY playoff victory to date

justaOCfan
Well, I tried to look at the TSSAA playoff picture and perhaps I'm wrong, but it looks to me that OC will be in the playoffs win or lose. It looks to me that the Rebels will be high enough in the tie-breakers to slip in even with a loss, though they would certainly improve their seeding with a win. But, I don't have a lot of faith in my figuring out the TSSAA scenarios. A win would most likely seal the deal. Ripley ALWAYS has very good athletes. While they may have a good defense, I think the Rebel offense may be more fine tuned. Last year Ripley was athletic, but I didn't think their execution was what it should have been. Hopefully the Rebel defense can get a couple of stops and a couple of turnovers to bring a win on senior night. Gotta go with the Rebels by 10 points at home. Tornadopride
Yes...there is another game in the county that night and will be South Fulton & Union City. As for the Rebels....It will be very interesting to see how the Rebels handle pressure. This game is pressure!! This is a place they have been before and usually does not win. If the Rebels can play without turnovers and stupid yellow flags everywhere..they should have a good chance. The Rebels lso have to have a good mixture of passing and running. I said you have to have both and running is much more important but Fair HAS TO HAVE over 100 yards running with a passing attack of 250 yrds to win. Otherwise from two different people who has seen both teams up close during the season and against other teams the rebels have played...Ripley by 17 points. As for the possible playoffs...the Rebels would be in now as the #6 seed in their quad playing the Greenbrier Bobcats if the season ended week nine. . Greenbrier is 6 and 3 over all and 3 and 1 in their district. They have beaten former powerhouse schools like Portland and Whitehouse this year. I did check and their district is very tight and tough. Good luck Rebels... Edited October 27, 2010 by UCGRAD
