6A playoff brackets

Look, you know the answer to your question.. You can't split up quads just because it favors you. The only fair and objective way to do this, would be to seed the state as a whole, and forget geography. That is not happening. The sillyness, I could't help, but you're stone cold sold that every year your district is the best and every one else is trash. What about before the last 8? 20? 40? Whatever? The result that is most revalent is the most recent result. Classes graduate, teams change.

I will be rooting for your Dickson County team though, I hope yall give that ridicilous guy over there a game to remember, although they are pretty good inspite of him. I hear, he refuses to trade with coaches better than him. I guess he is scared they will break him down....no class.

Its a shame Maryville will have to play DB before the semifinals though. Anyway, the Quad 3 winner isn't necessarily going to win it all. It's kinda like the reason NBA and MLB play series in the playoffs. In 1 game anything can happen, so just because you come out of the toughest Quad doesn't mean you will win your semi-final or championship game, just means you had the toughest road to get there and have proven yourself against those teams.

You're right! In a playoff or tournament format the best team does not always win. It would help silence the critics though if the Quad #3 champion took it all in dominant fashion.

I'm a Maryville fan who is thankful we are in Quad #1 We will have an easier route to the State than those in Quad #3 and #4 (no disrespect to DB or Riverdale). It would have been more equitable to put Oakland, Blackman or Smyrna in Quad #2 along with Riverdale.

There will be some great games and excellent gates for the Middle Tn teams (more $$$$$ for TSSAA). Also if I understand the home/away rules. Whoever comes out of Quad #1 travels to the winner of Quad #2 If that's Riverdale you have another big $$$$ game in Middle Tn for the right to play in Cookeville.

Quad #3 seems to have the best top to bottom teams in the state. The argument will be justified only if the Quad #3 winner takes the State Title. If I am in Quad #3, I just simply view it as an eight team playoff for the State Championship and I enjoy every game as if it were the State Championship Game!

The problem in such a tough quad is that these teams will have to play 4 full quarters just to win the game they are in. They will beat up on each other. Teams in easy quad like Riverdale will be able to rest their starters for probably half a game and will be well rested and healed up for the tough games to come in the semifinals. So win the well rested healed up team plays the worn out beat up team, who does that favor. The argument will be justified if the top teams out of quad 2 only play there starters half a game and win 42-7 every game in the early rounds while the top teams in quad 3 are winning or losing 21 - 14. I myself do not proclaim that district 7 would have 4 teams in the semi's if they were split up into 4 quads but they do have 4 teams capable of being there. Can you say that about Whitehavens district or can any other 6A district say that. NO. District 4 has 3 teams that maybe could. Nobody else comes close.

How many middle TN teams did White Station beat to win heir trophy?

OK OK, a certain 8-2 6A football team was called and asked about scheduling a home and home (yes, this means that Oakland would travel to Memphis, for a return game in Murfreesboro) and they were laughed at at the very idea they would think about playing a team the caliber of Oakland. You can believe it or not but it's the truth. It has happened several times across the state actually.

Hiya Randy. I'm a White Station fan...thought I'd drop my opnion in here about the topic being discussed.

1st) last year WS beat the one team they had to beat, Brentwood. And yes, they barely got it done. I have NO doubt Brentwood would have won state had they gotten past us.

2nd)based on researching your clue of a 6A team at 8-2....there's been discussions locally about fans of that team taking offense to others no giving them respect due to relatively easy scheduling. So I don't doubt they turned down the offers. Personally, I think it would be great for West teams and Central teams to get some home-n-home agreements going. WS has seeked out the toughest opponents locally (based on past records/reputations) to be better prepared for playoff time. While it hurt our record this year, it also got a very young squad in shape to finish strong and they are in the playoffs. I can't say how deep we'll go, we have little depth, not much size. But i do believe we'll compete well.

3rd) that 3rd bracket IS tough! I think the state champ would likely come from that bracket. It's a rough road for anyone who can survive those matchups. On the plus side, whoever makes it will leave no doubt they deserve to be in the final.

Thanks for the Objectivity and no offense to your team, and at least you believe me about that certain other team because you know how they are. Anyway props to your team, and good luck in the playoffs.

And, please look at the map and tell me how Lincoln Co belongs in quad 2 but Oakland or Blackman do not? I'll be waiting your reply.

I would say there are five teams in south central/southeast Tennessee, so it was decided that Quad 2 would be more of a southeast quad. Had to put Oak Ridge and Cookeville in there. Then looks like TSSAA picked Riverdale to go into 2 based on it being the southeastern-most school.
