I will say this we did lose two coaches over the off season. Coach Jason Smith is going to be the head football coach at Dayton City and Jesse Smith our Freshmen defensive coordinator is going to join Coach O over at Bledsoe as a linebacker coach and maybe special teams coordinator. As for everything else i'm just sitting back and waiting to see what happens . 13 days to go until spring practice

I see that Jacob Williams of Rhea Central made the 8th grade FutureStars team, which will take on KY in June. Any chance he'll contribute to the Eagles in the fall?

I am not sure. I hear we have a few rising freshmen that may have a chance to see some playing. Congrats to the Williams boy and the other rising EAGLES that was invited to tryout. It is a real honor to just get invited.

Congrats to the Williams kid.

Rhea Co. would be the one to update on the in coming freshmen. I think he posted earlier on possible ones.

Well after watching the last three days of practice things are looking good for this year's team. Practices have been pretty spirited and have had a good tempo. Some players have stepped up and been very impressive and are showing they are wanting to play some ball. We are stil missing some key players due to track, but we are gaining some valuable depth at those 3 or 4 positions. Some players that have stood out so far Timmy Loden at receiver and corner, Hunter Scoons at fullback, Michael Valencic at running back and outside linebacker, Joby Berry at defensive back and running back, Meche at slot receiver and safety and Skylar Everett receiver and safety. Of course there are some groups that are having a good spring so far the offensive line and linebacker corp. For not having any of our safeties from last year due to track we are doing pretty well at that position.

The position that most people are wondering about most, the QB. I have to say both Luke and Austin have had their moments of looking really good. However, at this point I would have to give the edge to Luke of being the better of the two. Luke does the little things better than Austin at this point. Luke has the better footwork, better work ethic, and a much stronger arm. The one thing that Luke needs to work on is his touch. If he can get alittle more touch on his passes, there will be no doubt in my mind that Luke will be the starter come fall. However, Austin is right in there too. Just being a sophomore Austin has a lot more to learn than Luke, but we need both of them that is for sure.

Also if you had not heard by now Coach Cook has left to Chatt Central to be the Defensive Coordinator for Coach Allen. I will miss Coach Cook and best of luck on his new position.

The Grace Christian scrimmage tomorrow will start around 5:30 or a little after. The scrimmage will be held on the game field.

Three days down and things are looking good and everyone is pretty happy with what we are seeing.

Also thoughts and prayers to the Douglas Family on their loss today.

Well overall I think the scrimmage went pretty well. We still have a lot of work to do. Tyler Walden had a big game running the ball. The defense was stout making 2 or 3 ints recovered, 3 or 4 fumble recovered, and made quite a few sacks and tackles for loss. The only really bad play I remember was the 3rd and 21 TD pass we gave up. Overall we got a lot of good information about what we have and what we need to work on. The Cumberland Co. scrimmage is at cumberland at 5:30 eastern tuesday

I heard the boys did good at the scrimmage. My question is who is going to be in charge this season? Sounds as if coach looking to leave.

Fitz isn't going anywhere. Yeah he was named as a possible candidate for the clinton job but he said he is not interested in leaving here. All I know is im happy he is still here because it could be alot worse like it is at other schools.

But anyways we are having a good spring and everybody is liking the way things are looking. Hopefully next week will be even better than last week and also have another good scrimmage tuesday.

    • Congratulations to the Warrior baseball team winning the Region Championship.  Last night the football team beat Franklin Co 33-0 in their spring scrimmage. Warriors looked very good. Missing a few players who were playing baseball but still absolutely dominated. A lot of young ones got in halfway through the 3rd when the score reached 33-0. QB Tilton Pickett looked very sharp.  Sam Pickett is on another level this season. Seems to have put on 15 to 20 lbs in the off season and added a step as well. Transfer from last year Williamson caught numerous balls and is very elusive. Lots of athletes on this team. Defense was smothering and will only get better. The head coach from Sewanee was in attendance and offered 2 kids after the game. Could be a special year.
