I knew you would show up with that Nick. The Farragut people have been awfully quiet so far this week. We should win this game on paper, but you know how that goes. Farragut has a good team and a good quarterback and running back. They are good enough to beat us if we don't play well. I expect it to be a close ballgame.

I agree with you. If we can win, we need to put them away early.

Im at Walmart getting my oil changed and my haircut......all in one stop! Where r u SS? Lol!

LOL! Actually, i am at work right now. FUN FUN lol...I hope we aren't overlooking Farragut after their game last week..I think Blade is too smart to let these guys. If we come out and play the way we are capable of, we will win this game, period. Or i should say we SHOULD win this game.

I made a bold prediction ITT several weeks ago, and I'm not going to take it back. I will say though that I was less than encouraged by the way the Ads came out at home against DB. The defense was on the field for more than 30 of the 48 mintutes as the offense struggled to get anything going due to a lack of play calling creativity. Five fumbles and several crucial dropped passes didn't help things either. Farragut's defense is strong though, so if the coaches can make the neccessary adjustments (IF) it should be a hard fought game. GO ADS!

Here's the way I look at it.

1. I know Oak Ridge is a much better team right now than they were at this point last season. This team is still young as far as starters go, but they are seasoned. Starting all those 10th graders last year will pay off big this year. I don't know if Farragut is any better right now than they were last year. I think that they might not be quite as good. Advantage=Oak Ridge

2. Farragut has already played a game this year working out the first game kinks. But, the entire Oak Ridge staff got to scout that game first hand and have a film to study. On the other hand, Farragut knows exactly what we are going to do because Blade doesn't try to trick anybody. The schemes are exactly the same as last year. So, I think this is a wash, any advantage either team may have here is cancelled out.

3. We are playing at Blankenship Field. The atmospher will be electric. I can only remember losing one home opener. I know there are probably more, but I only remember one, and that one was to a very good DB team. Advantage=Oak Ridge.

I will take the Cats in close one.

Rule also had to deal with rather poor snaps the entire game when in the spread against Dobyns-Bennet. A couple of them nearly went over his head. It makes it pretty hard to read your keys, not to mention running lanes, when you are having to pick the snap up off the ground. Hopefully, this is something that will be corrected during practice this week. At the same time, I certainly don't blame the kid playing center. I'm sure he is filling in for Doucette while he is injured.

I thought the first down speed option call that led to the fumble was a poor call. I like the idea of putting pressure on the C-gap to open up the interior run game, but Farragut had not run that play the entire game. Of course, it may also have been an audible. At any rate, up until that point I saw nothing that led me to believe that the zone plays weren't working. So, why risk a pitch in your own territory on first down? It put the defense right back on the field after getting a critical stop.

I agree with respect to creativity. I would be happy just to see a little more of a physical presence in the backfield from time to time. I would love to see Farragut employ a little more of the 2 back set. For example, they could shift #16 Williams from his tight end position into the backfield, and use him as a lead blocker. They could also use him at the slot and send him in motion to set up a trap. I have seen him literally blow people up blocking.

They could also use someone who is a more physical running threat in the two back set. I'm not exactly sure who would fill that role. Does anyone know if #45 Farner has any experience carrying the football? He(225 lbs.)looks like he would make an excellent fullback/blocking back type of player. I know he played some TE in the scrimmages.

We better not get over confident. This Farragut team is good, plenty good enough to beat us. If they don't have the critical turnovers against DB, I think they would have beaten a very good DB team last week. I also know that in their scrimmage with AE they moved the ball up and down the field easily. And AE has one of the better defenses in the area, they are loaded with big, strong, fast and experienced defenders. Farragut is very good at the zone read stuff. We will have to play very well to beat them.

I know our coaches are aware of how good these guys are and I hope they can get the kids to believe that. I think the teams are pretty evenly matched and it will be a very close game. Fewest turnovers wins this one.
