Now OP you are starting to show your true self. I've been around football my whole life but I never knew gap blacking assignments. That for the lesson. You have either played recently or been involved closely. I'm not a fan of the 3-4 but I am a fan of our coaches. I'm a bigger fan of mixing it up, keep the opponents guessing. I know we have the players to run multiple D and multiple O. Just watch Wisconsin.

The trouble is OP don't understand that big 'ol backs are more than happy with 3.5 yards in those gaps. They know they can't out run anyone but they can take them for a short ride. You know the kind of back I'm talking about. If you need 5 yards, they will guarantee you 5 yards. If you need 10 yards, they will guarantee you 5 yards.

OP I'm probaly as old as you but you can't run some defenses or offenses and that's the bottom line. and Oh by the way,yes I could coach so bring it on ..

I realize I'm playing both sides here but if ur that confident then go back to school and get a degree and teach then apply for a head coaching job...Then maybe one day u will get ur chance otherwise what u think u can do and reality is different things...U may know alot but the X's and O's u do not unless u played college ball...Terminology is HUGE! Lol now I do think some our coaches lack some but still....Just saying

What's the terminology when the guy gap blocking gets ran over?

I responded to that because u just wanna keep slamming SP and saying we are scared for not playing Alcoa...Well if thats so then T-Town refuses to play us means they were scared they might lose...Good grief good golly gee whiskers Ole Train Tracks has proved a point....Deal with it...U moved ur pawn so I knocked it down..It's simple really

Same difference there cheese...That is all

Lol...No sir, you did not prove anything. You and several other Cornbread Capitol posters are the ones that slam any team that does not agree to play you. You said Tullahoma was scare to play your team. Not true. Just because a team won't play you, it does not mean they are scare. Good grief. Your coach admitted he was afraid to play Alcoa. Deal with it.

I'm pretty sure we already got that test and failed miserably...I actually agree with Purple Muffin on this one...3-4 is for teams that have 3 stud lineman that can control the d-line alone..I understand why we went to it a few years ago but I'm not buying that we don't have the size or talent to run the 4-3 anymore...Or even a 4-4 against alot of teams we play

I'm gonna agree with you so I don't have to agree with Purple Doughboy. Someone tell me what basic defense does SP use? I know we use different setups at different times but like I said what is our basic "go-to" scheme?.

Good post wingman all of this is a bunch of BS. You priates better get ready for Franklin County instead of talking about Tullahoma. The Franklin County team is much better than you give them credit for. Their defense will shut your run game down. And as Tullahoma saw they can score a bunch.

    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
    • An FYI: To see how an opponent has done against another opponent since 2001- go to the game by clicking on one of the teams. Click the G beside the game. For example, Milan: The info will show you the previous matchups and other info.
    • All these college signees went yo other schools for 3 years, were getting college offers then transferred to Bearden. It’s not like this staff did much to develop them.    The BBall coaches son and the Seymour transfer were some of the most talented QBs in the region, and you guys developed them into QBs who might complete one pass a game.
    • No my fight, but ... if they were already college-caliber prior to transferring to BHS, and they already had FBS interest, and they end up at an FBS school, how did Bearden do anything for them?
