polkalumn01
Does district champs get automatic 1 and 2 seeds? With the better record getting the 1.
CPA4Ever
A 3A team that finishes 3rd in a district because a 4A team in that district finishes ahead of them should not be penalized. The qualifications and seeding should only be based on comparing 3A's versus 3A's. If Pearl Cohn loses to CPA, they would be 3rd in the District behind Maplewood (4A) and CPA (3A). They should be considered the 2ND PLACE 3a team in that district for playoff implications. Edited October 23, 2011 by CPA4Ever
Indian
Sometimes, often, the 3A opponent would be better than the 4A opponent from another district. They're A, AA, AAA before any playoff games begin, no different than the set-up from 1969-1992.

If you look at the districts across the state in AA. 18 3A teams are in first or 2nd in their respective district. 3A teams are competitive every year in the districts they are in. howdoitknow
11 of the 16 districts in Class AA are led by 3A teams with just 1 week remaining in the regular season. As you can see below in BOLD the 4A leaders are few and far between. 3A teams could potentially win 12 of the 16 districts at the end of the regular season. That's an average of 3 out of every 4 districts claimed by the teams in Class 3A. Sullivan North (District 1) Greeneville (District 2) Alcoa-CAK WINNER (District 3) Austin-East (District 4) Polk County (District 5) East Hamilton (District 6) Bledsoe County (District 7) Smith County (District 8) Goodpasture (District 9) Maplewood (District 10): this could change to Pearl-Cohn if they beat CPA in week ten Camden (District 11) Fairview (District 12) Milan (District 13) Lexington (District 14) Manassas (District 15) Mitchell (District 16)
Omniscience
How do you see it all shaking out in the end Gerry? I'd probably go with the following: Q1 1.) Sullivan North 8.) South Greene 4.) Chuckey-Doak 5.) Pigeon Forge 3.) Elizabethton 6.) Happy Valley 2.) West Greene 7.) Gatlinburg-Pittman Q2 1.) Bledsoe County 8.) Meigs County 4.) Polk County 5.) CAK 3.) Alcoa 6.) Sweetwater 2.) Austin-East 7.) Kingston Q3 1.) Smith County 8.) Grundy County 4.) Harpeth 5.) Sequatchie County 3.) CPA 6.) Cheatham County 2.) Goodpasture 7.) Pearl-Cohn Q4 1.) Milan 8.) Hickman County 4.) Manassas 5.) Lewis County 3.) Camden 6.) Westview 2.) Fairview 7.) South Gibson First 4 Teams Out: Loudon (4-6); Tyner (4-6); Upperman (4-6); Stewart County (4-6) REMEMBER NOW THAT THESE ARE JUST "MY PICKS" ON HOW THE PLAYOFF BRACKET FOR CLASS 3A WILL SHAKE OUT NEXT SATURDAY WHEN IT IS OFFICIALLY RELEASED I dont think Sequatchie would mind going to Harpeth in round 1, would still like to host, but beats going to CPA, or Goodpasture. howdoitknow
If Harpeth and Sequatchie lose this week then Sequatchie would hold the "tiebreaker" due to having played more +.500 teams. That would place Sequatchie as the #4 and Harpeth as the #5 seeds. If Harpeth wins and Sequatchie loses then Harpeth is the 4 and Sequatchie is the 5. If Sequatchie wins and Harpeth loses then Sequatchie is the 4 and Harpeth is the 5. I made that post the other night at 12:02 a.m. and made an error when seeding those 2 teams. Sequatchie County should be "huge" Cheatham County Cubs fans on Friday night if they want to open the playoffs at home.

Do you like Cheatam's chances against Harpeth, cause im sure we are big underdogs against Signal
howdoitknow
Do you like Cheatam's chances against Harpeth, cause im sure we are big underdogs against Signal It will be a highly contested battle between 2 good football teams. Both teams lost by 14 to Camden. Harpeth beat Creek Wood earlier in the season and Cheatham lost to Creek Wood this past week. Harpeth beat Stewart County by 14 and Cheatham beat Stewart County by 26. Both teams destroyed Montgomery Central and Waverly Central. Both teams lost tough battles against county-rival Sycamore. Harpeth beat Nashville Christian and Cheatham beat Jo Byrns. Both games were 35-14 contests. Cheatham lost to Fairview by 12 and Harpeth beat Hickman County by 13. Those were the "inner-district" contests that both teams played in the non-district portion of their schedules. It's a tough game to predict as you can see. It's a flip a coin deal with the way both teams are playing and they've been playing each other since pee wee football. There's no surprises typically. Either way, there's gonna be some travel involved for the teams on the border of Quad 3 and Quad 4. Harpeth took bus rides to Smith County and Cannon County in 2009. Sequatchie County is on the border of Quad 2 and Quad 3 so the trip is even longer. As much as everybody complains about the seeding and all, I do like the chance of playing an unknown rather than someone you play during the regular season. Even with the inequities, this is a lot more exciting.

If you take away the 0 week loss of Tuscola, NC (they play 11 games)that will give Elizabethton playing 8 teams with better then 50% wins. That is, if they beat Sullivan East this week then they will move into 2nd place in Q1 behind North. West Greene is open this week and does not play. Gatlinburg-Pittman will need to beat Pigeon Forge this week or they will be 4-6 and I don't see them getting in. You may see Austin-East coming East to Q-1 again.
