Rumors of the next Gibson County football coach

So who is it going to be? I saw today where Tignor had said in the paper that a decision would be made at the end of the week or early next week at the latest.

This is such a bad decision. Gibson County passed on a 10 year defensive coordinator with college coaching experience for this guy from a class 1 school. What is the reasoning behind this? Guess Gibson County is going to the veer.

New head football coach for Gibson Co. is Morgan Cruse from Union City. He was an assistant at Union City. I was told he is able to bring one person with him as an assistant. I imagine that one assistant will be his brother Bryant Cruse, but that is only speculation on my part. I hope Coach Cruse has good luck at Gibson and is able to turn the program around. I imagine Gibson will be running the midline veer that Union City runs, which is honestly the best bet for the talent at Gibson. If we can just find 2 or 3 stud athletes somewhere in the halls that are hard nosed and can run, then Gibson could win a few games next year and hopefully several more when we drop to 2A.

 

WestTNFootballMan, this isn't a bad decision. Just because your buddy wasn't picked for a job at Gibson doesn't make Gibson's decision a bad one. Who is this person that has 10 years of college coaching experience that should've gotten this job?

AGREED!!!! Now, the parents just need to realize that it'll take more than just 1 year to win football games and I'm talking 4-6 win seasons. This years junior class to be senior class next year, deserves a good season for their hard work they've put in over the past 3 years thus far. They have a great work ethic and heart for the game, but just haven't been able to come out with a W.

They got it down to 2 men, and then instead of picking the one with over a decade of coordinator experience including the college level, who is a great christian man with a family, they went with a 26 year old kid that did exactly what DB told him to do at Union City. Now is it a coincidence that the new coach married a girl from Gibson county??? I think not. The good ole boy system at its finest. It probably doesn't hurt that Harry Tignor is an old veer guy and Cruze is probably bringing DB's veer scheme with him. Oh well, close but no cigar.

The coach being referred to is Coach Goltra. He was the DC at Obion County when they broke their loosing streak and made the playoffs in his first year there. Did the same thing in Kansas City, taking a team that won 5 games in 5 years to the playoffs his first year with a 9-2 season. Coached in the Missouri East/West All Star Game, guest speaker at the Kansas City FCA coaches clinic, and numerous other awards.
