Maryville's 4 was undefeated Alcoa only did that twice. Only two times during the 7 state titles in a row did they beat Maryville to. I think that says it all.

Doesnt matter if you use Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry, trigonometry, calculus, or statistics.....7 will always be greater then 4! I can promise you that every person thats ever put on a jersey would trade 3 wins for 3 more championships.

What a game! I think it will take several days to get my voice back. Congrats to CAK. No way will you lose the rest of the way. I look forward to seeing the gold ball come back to our district...makes a huge statement to the competition and talent that reigns our district. I said after last year's CAK vs. Alcoa playoff game that that 14-3 game was truly the state championship game and I believe I witnessed it last night, as well.

Tough loss for our boys tonight. There was a lot of hard hitting and, I'm sure, a lot of sore men today. Unless you have won 7 straight championships, one will never know the pressure these boys feel each year. They have faced and heard all season, "What's happened to Alcoa?" Nothing. We are still a great team, with great athletes! Our competition also works hard each year to get better and they have.

Hats off to CAK, but hats off to the Alcoa Tornadoes, as well. You've held together and worked hard to make your community proud. Mission accomplished!

Good luck next week. Sure hope you take AE down!

What a game! Best I've seen in years. Great fight shown last night by both teams. Glad I was wrong on my prediction. What a run! Lets start a new one next year. Congrats to CAK and keep that gold ball in ET. You guys guys have a great team.

Good posts :thumb:

First and formost congrats to CAK. They as well as Alcoa played their hearts out last night! Secondly it was my pleasure to meet you last night and your son is a warrior. Now do not let them think that what they have done is enough its all about Cookville and that gold ball bring it back to ET and make us proud! :thumb:

Thanks for the compliment, I'll be sure to pass it along. The pleasure was all mine. I honestly enjoy getting to meet other football enthusiasts and hear their perspectives on things. Thanks to the Tornadoes for setting a great example for us as to what it takes to win tough games like this. We had to lose many times in these playoffs to finally get to a place where we could win one ourselves. Hopefully we've learned enough to stay focused on the prize at hand, get ready for AE, and go play tough nosed District 4 football. :thumb:

Congratulations to Alcoa for continuing to fight till the end. The Alcoa seniors have had a truly special 4 years that they will never forget.

To the Warriors, congratulations for doing whatever it took to survive and advance to the semi final round. CAK has made a habit of playing as hard as humanly possible for the entire 4 quarters over the last several years, and that same ethic paid off big time last night. Going in at half time down 21 to 10, rather than coming out defeated and flat, these guys turned it up a couple of notches in intensity from an already intense start. There were several Warriors that just played an "over the top" game. #'s 18 and 22 on defense come to mind.

This is a victory that has been a long time in the making that may not be fully understood by programs that don't play Alcoa on a regular basis. I believe either of these teams would have been more than worthy to meet A-E in the semi's and potentially represent the east at State. I look forward to discussing the match up with A-E, but this weekend, for the parents and fans at least, is about enjoying this victory.

GVK you have to be the most dedicated CAK fan I have ever met. And your dad runs a close second. :thumb: I am happy that the 2 of you got back in time to personally witness last nights game. And amen about this being a long time in the making. Looking forward to your insights about the AE game next week whenever that thread gets started. #18 respects your thoughts and really appreciates your compliment.

Do Alcoa fans really believe that theyre the best team in the state every year? Do you understand what "strength of schedule" is? I'm sure anyone could win 7 titles in a row when they play schools like TN School of the Deaf or TN School of the Blind. Alcoa is the Boise St. of TN HS football, they win a lot but their lack of competition nullifies their cries for being called the best team in the entire state, let alone better than Maryville. You have no legitimate argument to say that Alcoa is better than Maryville.

By the way, Alcoa is 3-15 against Maryville since 1994.

So you definitely aren't the best program in the last 20 years.

1)Please show me any post where I or anyone else said Alcoa was the best team in the state?

2)Please show me where any of us said Alcoa is/was better then Maryville?

3)Please show me where Alcoa plays/ed TSD or TSB

4)Pleas list me another team in Tennessee in any classification that has won 7 straight State Championships

Here's a fact,

Alcoa plays the schedule handed to them. It is a FACT that teams have dodged Alcoa to not play them. To you think we just drove to Kentucky for 3 years because of the scenery? Have you ever been to Kentucky before? Nobody is taking away from Maryville's winning streak. Its a great accomplishment but Id be willing to bet if you asked most of the players on the teams that DIDNT win the State title if they would trade a win or two for a couple more rings...Everyone of them would say yes. 9 times out of 10 the best region in 3a football is Alcoas region. You remove Alcoa from 2a/3a during this run and teams like CAK and Loudon would have a few gold balls of their own. Not only that Milan would probably add a few to theirs either and every time they got there, they were shut down by Alcoa, so dont come here spouting crap about Alcoa doesnt play anyone. Alcoa has beaten everyone the needed to to win a State Title! If you want tougher competition for Alcoa then go tell some of your "other" state championship teams that dodged Alcoa to step up to the plate like Maryville and CAK do every year and Greeneville has done this and next year.

I was wondering how long that one would take... chatter around Kingsport has him at DB, although Clark hasn't gone/isn't going anywhere and Rankin's job will go to Caine Ballard. Same old song...

The rumblings I hear is Catholic or CAK. Ive not heard DB. I figured the private schools would grab him, that is even if he does go anywhere.

I would think the natural progression for Rankin now would be to the next level. Plenty of small college programs would snatch him up in a heartbeat if he expressed an interest.

    • Never said I thought it was a smart decision. I'm scratching my head at it too.
    • If he wanted to play QB he should have either went to Heritage or William Blount and had a real good chance there. In stead he'll be exactly what he was going to be at Maryville. They already know who their QB is going to be in 2025 and it ain't going to be him.
    • Easier said than done. The man who ran for 250+ yards and 3TDs is gonna be back….and a lot bigger.
    • plus it removes the pressure around winning.
    • You are correct.   The teacher's pay scale is virtually the same in Knox County, now, as it is at Oak Ridge.   The coaching supplements are still higher at Oak Ridge, from what I was told, but not a huge difference.   Plus, Rusty is going from a position coach to an OC position, which is what he was at South Doyle and where his comfort zone is.  And from a special education teaching slot to a PE teaching slot.  There is a lot of positivity in that move without even considering the coaching aspect.   Anybody who sees something negative here is just looking for negativity to begin with.  But some live in that world.   Really good hire for Brent.  He now has two experienced and quality coordinators and can concentrate on being a head football coach.
