If this is true there is a verrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrry BIB jump from a small middle school program to Class 5-A. Especailly in the same district as the returning state champion. Things should be interesting at Boyce Smith this year

For the upcoming season, before the Jr. Grimes "other direction" plan, I thought 7 maybe 8 wins. Whoever the next coach is, they will inherit a team with two all-state players who are listed on the Unapproved Website list, a QB who threw for a whole lot of yards and many returning starters who have been to the play-offs three straight years.I just hope the "other direction" is not back to the days of: the only folks at the game are band parents and parents of a few players, with the best atheletes walking the halls of the school. This is where we have been in the past and it was not a good thing, I just hope the Jackets are not going back to this. Your'e right commish things should be very interesting at Boyce Smith Field this year.

There are rumors that the coaches arent the only ones who may be moving to other schools. We may not recognize next year's Jacket team. I think the offense that we run will be different (back to run heavy) and this may affect/effect our play makers playing time. Only time will tell. The past three years has been exciting at time with the Meyers spread offense. I look for us to go back to more grind it/time possession football.

What i am hearing from your post is that the Jackets will go back to a boring style offense with most likely little success in terms of wins especially if key players elect to go elsewhere.

A boring ball control offense kind of like...Alabama. They havn't even named a coach yet, and we have figured our what kind of offense they will run, and which players will quit. Calm down folks.

I will take your advise and try to calm down. Rumors are flying and we need cool heads. I just hate us to totally ditch the spread. We have a TON of play makers and a QB with cannon for an arm. BUT I sit on the sidelines and don't coach so I will leave this up to the paid professionals

A run-heavy, smash mouth style of offense is anything but boring if you can run it successfully. Just ask Henry County, although we do have some variations of a spread attack thrown into our game plan as well. Either way, my point still stands.

As for the playmakers comment, I'm not sure why a change in offensive philosophy would make them want to switch schools. If a player is good enough, he will still be on the field enough to have plenty of opportunities, especially if he has all state talent. It's ridiculous to think otherwise. We had a wide receiver who just signed a college scholarship who only caught 16 passes last season in our run-heavy system, because his talent was still very noticeable. And he wasn't even an all-state caliber player.

Whoever the new coach is needs to tell them and their parents to not give up on the program so easily.

the only two coaching graduates from springfield that i know are jerry pearson, pat brown and scott smith. Coach Pearson is retired but returing to springfield to live, both pat brown and scott smith played for him. coach brown is coaching at white house heritage and smith is at moore county. It is hard to imagine that springfield would hire a middle school coach, no matter how good they are. That is a huge adjustment and if it is a inside job that will be hard to accept. go luck to the jackets and dont settle for a middle school coach

Does the Moore County coach have any interest in the job?

Don't know if he applied, would be an excellent choice.SHS grad played for Jerry Pearson, won a state championship at Ezell Harding, very innovated offensive mind and for good measure he came to SHS via Coopertown.Looks like the coach search was a farce, I just hope it works out and doesn't set us back.

    • Oh yeah, I’m sure you are different people just always on the same thread for some reason, always agreeing with each other, perhaps just a bunch of dorks who would like to ###### and moan about high school football coaches do a lot of other students, so you make a football team and get a yell at them. When they do something wrong, but I’m sure you don’t like that, do you?   and I’m sure I’m aware of where you get information. A teacher who was on the coaching staff but was fired after the new coaching and staff came in and realized he actually had to start taking his assistant job a little bit more seriously than just wanting to make a little extra cash on the side, hardly even showing up to most practices, should’ve left with his buddy to go to Farragut. I’m sure he could get him a defensive coaching job, but I doubt he will be there in three years. Looking at the way Farragut is currently going.
    • It may be hard to believe but there’s more people than me that think you guys are a bunch of losers.    I’m sure the coaching staff, yourself included, cursed at a bunch of high school students. Nobody could name more than 3 coaches on staff due to the constant turnover.
    • That's complete BS.  Nobody at ACHS has access to CHS student records unless a transfer is made from CHS to ACHS.
    • Trez's last scandal has died down, so I guess this is there opportunity to be the best 4A team playing in 2A a la Sissy MTN.  At least they won't be in a Z-district with 1a teams in the regular season.
    • Facts...until someone takes down the Rebels they should be the favorite. Got loads of young guys salivating at the opportunity to prove themselves and get a 3peat! Blazer how is Region 1 looking this year?
