I remember that WB team. Garner at RB could fly...They had a WR named Cope? Great player, too. Best WB team i have ever seen i believe. Had Cole Lail at MLB..guy was a beast.

I think there is probably a "jitters" factor for most teams when they go up against Maryville. I played high school fb, and I remember going up against those daunting tests. The nerves definitely go haywire for those games. Mind you, we never played against a Maryville type of program, but we played against some very good ones, like MBA for example. However, I usually settled down after my first few plays on the field, and most of my teammates were the same way.

 

Maryville rarely makes mistakes, so when an opponent does, it gets magnified even more in terms of the outcome. So perception could have something to do with it.

I don't think Country Reb or Strongx are Rebel fans at all. As for the 2007 WB/MHS game. The worst call was on Maryville's 1st drive.Brent Burnett throws a strike to Tyler Clendenen but officials said Clendenen was out of the end zone. Watching the replay Clendenen was inbounds and should have been a touchdown. All everyone wants to talk about is that kick. heck WBIR,WATE and WVLT ran replays throughout the show trying to say WB got robbed.

I bet it wasn't Mike Sing that made THAT call.

I am not trying to say there is a conspiracy, but didn't they dedicate the training table in the athletic center to Mike?

i have noticed watching maryville games that who ever they are playing always seems to make mistakes (fumbles,bad snaps, missed fieldgoals, stupid penalties etc.) even if they are usually a good team. do teams just get intimidated? or is there some kind of black magic at play? haha

In the words of Greyrider "really"? Because I disagree about a TYING extra point and because I think WB had a better team that year that makes me NOT a Rebel Fan. Unbelievable! I saw 3 WB games and 8 Maryville games that year and IMO WB had the better team. Ask yourself this question Rebelron, if you changes staffs on that game who would have won? I would say GQ and WB by 10. I will always call it the way I see it on here, no matter who the truth or my heart favors. As for Strongx, I know nobody on here has deeper roots or is a stronger supporter of Maryville than him.IMO
