Does it really matter? At the end of the day, someone is losing to CPA in Sub State.

Oh the winner of this district could beat Giles County (or Spring Hill/Marshall County) in the region tourney this year. If that happens then we'll be seeing you in Murfreesboro (where everyone matters).

Oh and as was mentioned on another thread..........Cheatham County beat CPA the last time that the 2 teams met one another on the hardwood.

Yes, It matter a whole lot... Maybe not in the regular season, maybe not in the district... but the winner of the region should be favored to make it to state... I have seen almost all of the teams from this area that have a chance to make it to substate and Cheatham Co and Waverly are the second and third best teams respectively behind CPA...

With that being said... I was at the CCCHS/CPA play day at Harpeth and like you stated they did beat them... but that was not a full CPA roster nor was it a full CCCHS roster... CPA is the favored team between the two and will likely beat them if CCCHS has to play them in a substate game... Unbias opinion...

Like I mentioned above regular season results and district results do not really matter... If you want a chance to make it to state you had better win the region... second place will not only be playing the best team in the state in CPA but more than likely the refs as well as they tend to make a few morer CPA calls in the few games I have seen them play...

A plea for civility.....Can everyone please limit the posts to basketball and leave the personal attacks out. It is so childish how every year this topic at some point gets down to name calling and threats. It is embarrassing to this Harpeth fan, and Cheatham county resident. To my knowledge not one single invitation to meet in the parking lot has ever been accepted, nor should it be. While we all should be passionate about our teams I would think we could do so with a civil tone. It is amazing to me that there is more trash talking on here than most of the kids do during the game.

Matter of fact most of us would frown on our own son if they were jawing, and trash talking during a game. Set the tone for the boys, cheer and support your team, don't trash the others.

That is my sermon for the day!

Looking forward to seeing a good game tonight when Montgomery Central rolls in to Harpeth. I always enjoy watching their Coach, kinda reminds me of Hulk Hogan.

Harpeth got a big win last night at Camden. That win will in all likelihood lock Harpeth as #4 and Camden as #5 in the district for the upcoming tournament. Harpeth has a good chance to even up their mark at 12-12 tonight against Montgomery Central (who surprised everyone by playing Waverly to the wire last Friday night).

Cheatham County hosts Creek Wood tonight in a critical District 11-AA matchup. The Red Hawks stunned the Cubs the first time these teams met. Tonight's "rematch" will be very intense.

The other game tonight is Camden vs Waverly. The Lions had been on a bit of a streak before falling to Harpeth last night. Waverly will be looking to bounce back from a "down" performance against Montgomery Central last week.

BasketballNutty- just wanted to let you know that the Chevy is warming up and waiting for you and your little Indian friends on Friday night. Next time you root against the Cubs son you better cheer a little louder because last night you nor any amount of fans were gonna stop Cheatham County from stomping a mudhole in those aces and walking it dry. The next team it's gonna happen to is Harpeth on Friday night and this time it's gonna be much worse.

    • That was after the 2nd year of a 4 year cycle.  Since Covid we have been on a 2 year cycle.  So, there really isn't a "mid cycle" reclassification this time.   Idk if there's anything in place to address the issue of a school closing.  My guess is, nothing can be done.  This would be akin to the 1st year of a 4 year cycle, where a school has the 20% +/- but not allowed or even have the option to move up or down.
    • No reasonable lawyer would take up this case. I am not a lawyer, but I know school law in and out.  Similar situations just like this play out thousands of times each year across the country, even at the college level (i.e. Ole Miss)  The Plaintiff's never win...ever.  If I am wrong, please provide a legal precedent for me. I will be waiting.  https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/39431892/judge-drops-ole-miss-player-lawsuit-lane-kiffin
    • Yes Justin Cruse was named head coach
    • It used to be, I think it still is, a change of 20% +/- gives reason to reclassify. Schools can choose to play up classifications but not down. Here is the mid cycle reclassification info on TSSAA.org When Memphis East changed from a regular public school to an "all-optional" school in 2017 the would've dropped to A but chose to stay in AAA in basketball (baseball, and softball) Penny was still coaching there and with the players they had they would've beaten A teams by 40 and slept walked to the championship. Other Memphis schools stayed in their classifications (mostly in basketball) until the next reclassification cycle. Of course this is the same time that a 4th class was added basketball.
