I remember that 1980 game during the regular season at SP. We then played them again in 85 or 86 during the playoffs. What happened to Troy Claiborne? I believe he was early 2000s? Also didn't you guys have a RB named George or something that was really good?

Troy is working and Ryan is doing the same... Ryan went to school to play maybe one year I think but not really sure... Troy was a good RB but an outstanding SS, one of the best i've seen to play that position in high school. Ryan is one the best RB's i've ever watched in high school, could score from anywhere on the field, could be a physical runner as well but once in the open he was gone... He was a pretty good LB as well

In 82, Gville went 11-1, losing to Marion in the playoffs.

In 83, Gville went 11-3, runner-up to ECS

In 84, State Champs

In 85, 5-4

In 86 11-1, losing to SP in the second or third round

in 87, 10-3, losing to Greenback in the semi's

In 88, 11-3, losing to DCA in the semi's.

 

Considering there was on 3 classes, and only the top 2 in the district made the playoffs. This was a heck of a run.

I know OldTiger55 was a part of these teams, not sure about TigerTradition, though.

 

Marion finished runner up in 82 and 84...........did marion move up in 84 or did gordy beat mc in the finals

I work with Troy, so he's still around. I see Ryan George regular too. Both have kids. Both may be good RB's. Hopefully they go to Gordonsville.lol

FWIW, Terry Manning, who was a great RB for Gville in the 80's, is Troy Claiborne's uncle. Terry's son is the RB at Smith County.
