Congrats to Hurd for being apart of the UT uprise....the bullseye will be on him and injury will be a concern......according to your thread other teams are game planning for him......one of our players who is now a Vol had a "play it safe" season his senior yr.and thats because opponents were going for his knees and he did get slightly injured.......im just sayn from experience thats what the fans will say because they want to win another championship....but im thrilled he is going to be a VOL!!!!

Thanks, he's most certainly excited about his commitment. Every team we play will be gunning for him (in any way that they can). They did this last season, and they most certainly will this season. Fortunately, he's up to 232 lbs. (22 lbs. heavier than last season), so it wont be quite as easy. ;)

Didn't this same thing "allegedly" happen to Travis Stephens back in the 90's?

I remember his Junior year at Northeast when he went all out beast mode rushing for over 2000 yards as a tailback and also playing a couple of other positions en route to winning the Mr. Football award, only to have an injury plagued senior season the following year. Nonetheless, Stephens was in the 5'9" 190 range whereas Hurd is in the 6'3" 230 range. He will hurt a lot of kids himself simply by running them over, no joke.

On another note, congrats to Hurd on his commitment! I'm sure he will do wonderful things at UT!

If Hurd is to get hurt , won't be from contact as in most cases he's a man playing with boys , will be from a cut or getting his cleat stuck in the turf...

The thing for Beech and for Hurd is how will o line look

ok lets not mention the word "hurt"....dont wont to see ANYONE go thru that....Im just saying dont be surprised if you dont see the same person you saw the last 2 years....with that said if the O line is the same or better it should not be a problem.....but former early signees have been accused of " playn it safe" by the fans and coaches......almost like a resentment and should be a celebration.... Hurd needs to share his weight gain program increasing his weight by 22 lbs already since last season. I am sure there are a lot of young men that could learn from it. Looking forward to watching MJ playing him and the Bucs

He's eating roughly 6000 calories a day faithfully and hitting the weights hard! His shoulder is almost at 100%, and he will be ready for full contact soon. His goal is to bulk up and then cut down (once summer workouts start) to 225-228 lbs by the start of the season.

if hurd stays healthy, i predict another deep playoff run.

i'm not ready to hand them another state title just yet, because they are graduating a lot of talent from last year's team, but they will still be a force.

That's a big IF! Hard to repeat at this level. That said IF he does you have to like their chances. Hurd is best talent seen in TN in a very long time at RB. He has to just stay hungry and sky is the limit. If you don't know, now you know. How's that for some HotSauce?
