Anyone have thoughts on why Tyner has lost only to private schools the last two seasons?

That wasn't quite the kind of explanation I was asking for, but it one of the types I was expecting. Why have only private schools been better, is that a better question?

Because some of the private schools do a better job of 'attracting' good athletes than other schools.

Because Baylor, McCallie, and Tyner have really good football programs.

Because Coach Turner believes in playing the best he can schedule. Since the larger public school coaches would rather eat glass than get beat by a lower division team, Turner schedules Baylor and McCallie. Way to go Wayne!

I guess you are asking this question because Sequatchie County plays Tyner. The real test will come when Tyner meets Sweetwater in the playoffs.

 

Is there a 2A school out of Memphis, Nashville or Knoxville? I would say that Tyner has better athletes, which come out of a big city vs. a rural 2A school.

 

Lewis County for instance is a 2A school that loses in the playoffs to faster teams.

 

Tyner also has to benefit from playing tougher competition during the season -- when the playoffs come around.

 

So, Tyner can beat most if not all public schools in their classification, but they have fallen to private schools. They lose to private schools because they are the schools that beat them.

 

What is your explanation for the Rams' losses to private schools? You are not going to say it is coaching are you? I am assuming you have a point to make about "privates" since you posted this on the private boards.

Because they play the top privates in the Chattanooga area, but not the top publics.

If they have lost to teams like McCallie, isn't that not really proving anything? McCallie is a bigger school with more boys correct? Just wondering here.
