Thanks , hope they do well and show some progress because I do like the coach you all have.

they should be better. Alot of young talent to work with and they have a year in Ridge's system under their belt. I've also been given to understand that they have been working really hard this offseason. As disappointing as last year was they were soo close to being 5-5 or 6-4 or even 7-3. They lost a few really close games that they really should have won. They should have beat mo east, bearden, lenoir city, and jeff county. And they had farragut on the ropes but couldnt put them away. Hopefully more of those close games will go in our favor next year. We will just have to wait and see. Edited by Governors91

Jake I think we are. When I played for Maryville back in the seventies we looked like Alabama with red helmets with white numbers. Getting back to William Blount, I loved those uniforms that looked like Florida. What I don't like about the new ones is that the colors really aren't the school colors and the helmets look like a primer undercoat and the finish didn't get put on.

Barney, I don't think Maryville has ugly uniforms, I was just making a point that "ugly" is a matter of prespective.  I thought WB uniforms were ok last year, but I have to agree that I am not a fan of the flat paint that was on the helmet last year.  As far as Maryville looking like Alabama in the 70's, if they go back to that look, you may have to add room for one more fan...lol.

it is too.. The football team has worn navy uniforms for over a decade and the baseball team wears navy now.

Sorry 91, APB is correct.  Navy blue has never been the "official blue" of William Blount.  When the switch was made away from the original "powderish teal looking blue", it was made to "royal blue" if I'm not mistaken.  You are correct that these teams have worn "navy" but it is not the official color.

I know. But basically navy blue is more or less the official color of William Blount football. They wear navy and all the t-shirts and merchandise are navy. And personally When I think of William Blount I think navy, not royal. And I bet if you asked any team that has played william blount in football they would associate navy blue with william blount. Besides navy just looks better. I think you will see navy become the official school color sooner or later. Edited by Governors91

This is the last I will say about it, but here goes...

Go to the school website, (www.wbgovs.com) look at the walls in the gym, cheerleader uniforms, google search images of WBHS ...look at the coat of arms, then tell me what the official school colors are.

Don't be such a sheep, 91.

I have been around WBHS and that program for a lot longer than you may have thought.

I know for a fact it was a lot longer than you have.

I really hope they turn it around down there.

i know that navy isnt the official school color, but I like navy blue so It doesn't bother me. And my point all along was the football team has been wearing navy jerseys for over a decade so it has become a tradition. If you really wanna harp about a school's colors why dont you get on heritage for taking baby blue completely out of their uniforms and trying to look like Nebraska.

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
