So this is how a thread gets hot, all the all star band wagoners talk about chick fil a sandwiches and missing player rumors. No respect for a team that yall have already beat down this year. Ok fair enough, hopefully the Bears are not scared of all those all stars hopped up on chick fil a.

Lucky lotto numbers for the week.

Bears 42- All Stars 28

GoBears!!

Has it crossed your mind that we do have respect for your team and Coaches and that's why we've not talked about the beat down we gave y'all in the reg season? But if that's what you want I'm sure it's coming.

I just read the article on the Jackson kid and he is definitely going to make some D-1 school very happy in the near future.  Maybe I should go to SCHS and show Manning the movie clip from Remember The Titans so he will know how to deal with big, fast defensive linemen (where sunshine flips that big ole boy and then the Titans just run away with the game). Just Kidding. But back to reality, I am a very big VOLS fan so could some of you Rebel fans start using the word VOLS in everyday language around this Jackson kid so he will be brainwashed into picking Tennessee.

Example:

You - Boy is sure is a beautiful Vol morning, with all the orange leaves.

Jackson - Did you say a beautiful VOL morning.

You - VOL, no,no, I said a beautiful FALL morning....hahaha, VOL morning. But I bet it is beautiful over on the Tennessee campus this morning too.

Okay, very corny example I know but you do get my point, try to get they kid in Volunteer orange.

I can't speak for all fans, but I know this Maryville fan isn't alone in respecting Sevier County.

Here's why: Steve Brewer.  Anyone who knows him knows he is a lot like our coach; a man of integrity and a fierce competitor but comes across as a humble guy. His offense comes in Avg 46 ppg GQ's 45 ppg (both are school records I believe)

Manning (gotta like a TN QB with the last name Manning) and the Bradley Central QB are the best QB's we have faced this year and I have a strong feeling we haven't seen his A game yet but we will on Friday. He is one tough kid and gritty.

#71 it would be easier to list the players he hasn't got knockdown blocks on than the ones he has. I'm really glad no one has figured out he's even better at DT. He is a strong of a lineman anywhere in the state packing a 300lb players strength in a 230lb frame. What a motor and will to win on every play. Always enjoyed watching him work. A humble, all in, type of player.

#45 is a clone of our #79. He is the best DE we have seen all year imo. listed at 6'4" 230lbs bench presses 300lbs, squats 450lbs and that explains why he is running OVER blockers and in the backfield so much in these playoffs. He's been unstoppable. He'll play on Saturday somewhere.

The Exel Harding transfer, what ever his jersey number is, a big play guy and I believe UT has already offered him as an underclassman.

SC has skill players back that were out the last time we played.

SC did what some didn't think was possible (not me) in it's last game on D. Strong, physical and swarming!

Your fan base is strong and travels well and the atmosphere will be electric and that influences the momentum of a H.S. game. Maryville fans better show up and show support.

It is a privilege to get the opportunity to play a much improved Sevier County team and I think the Bears are one of the top teams in the state and have shown that each year with consistency. No one from Sevier County has to ask for respect; the team and program have already earned it.

The last two games with Sevier County were 55-6 this year and 41-7 two years ago in the playoffs. Those games are in the past and do not mean squat right now. If there are any missing players on the Maryville side shouldn't mean squat either . Now if we run out of Chick-Fil-A's again for the third game in a row before the game even starts that's a different story. Should be a great game and Vegas Line has M 42 and S 14.

How bout this diversion?

It's good to see the coaches started listening and got our backup qb more playing time. Now maybe we can put in that zone blitz on defense this week and let big #79 pick off one of those short crossing routes. Maybe these coaches will eventually get it.

Threw myself on the sword, but that should work.

Threw yourself on the sword ?? Hardly , you changed the subject and you also made sure you'll have a happy thanksgiving , after that post I'm sure you'll get first choice of the turkey !

Great post , I agree totally , coach Brewer is the closest coach out there to Coach Quarles when it comes to always showing Class , and his team also . All sevier County fans I know are classy too .

Not trying to change the subject but that mess with Marion County reminds me of that Tom Cruise movie called All the Right Moves except it was some dumb fans tearing up the coaches yard. They may be doing a sequel called All the Wrong Moves.

No problem Barn ..... I'm just thankful you made a post without the "word in it !!  ( concession or chick fil a  , take your pick )

    • I've always been a football fan first and then if you have a band that's awesome. No question that DB has one of the best bands in the country and the whole region should attend at least one DB game just to see their band. I don't know if Nick Saban could come to Kingsport and build a football program that could match the Dobyns Bennett band's success. That said,as mentioned before, a couple of things would have to change in order for the Tribe to just win a state championship on the field.Besides a program that starts from the peewee teams and goes all the way to J Fred with all coaches and weight training { in time }on the same page. Sometimes it also takes a little luck like the 1998 Vols .There are a lot of great athletes at a lot of big schools around the state and just because you want something doesn't mean your going to build a program like Alcoa has. Yes,start at the bottom and have guys that are quality coaches teaching at every level is 100% the first step. Parents can make it a lot easier by getting their young athletes into an early start with conditioning and weights as well when they are old enough to lift.If your son is a man in the weight room before he gets to DB , then it won't take a "Dobbs" coach to make him competitive against other schools athletes when it comes to strength.
    • Dyersburg scrimmaged South Gibson last week
    • A complete cultural change happened at Greeneville and the administration and community opened up their checkbooks.  What a lot of people don't know is Ballard was Zeller's OC for many years and stopped coaching for two years because Zeller and Ballard didn't see eye to eye on some things.  Zeller lead Greeneville to it's first ever Semi Final appearance in 2000 and lost 28-12 at Maryville and had them in the Quarter Finals in 2002 and 2003.  Z was a great coach but lost some control when it came to making workouts mandatory. (He learned from that Mistake and it was at LC when i coached with him.).  Z was let go going into my Senior Year and was replaced by Steve McCurry who was the one that turned the program around.  Steve had won a 4a state championship at AC Reynolds in Asheville and made the administration completely redo the weight room with new equipment, had a football period at the end of the school day to lift, started devil camp, and brought in coaches like Danny Bentley (Still the OL coach), Ballard as the OC, Cody Baugh (QB coach and still there), and even Spradlen who is Greeneville's head coach now as the DB's Coach.  McCurry only coached for two seasons at Greeneville and took a team that had a losing record the year before and finished my Senior Year making it to the Quarters and having a 10-3 record and then followed it up with a Semi Final appearance the next year with an 11-3 record and back to back conference championships.  Loved McCurry to death but the recession hit and the story i heard was he was still buying new equipment for the team that the Principal didn't authorize and his response was "I don't answer to you and only to Niswonger and Bewley" (Two huge donors).  That was it for him and they Promoted Ballard shortly after that.   Greeneville had always been relevant ever since the the late 70's under Coach Fred Sorrell's.  Since Sorrell's took over in 1977 Greeneville overall winning percentage is over 76%.  The biggest reason people might not have thought Greeneville was "Good" until Ballard was Greeneville always played up Classification wise and could never get over the hump. (When there were 3 classifications we played 3a, when it went to 5 we played 4a).  Greeneville is the largest its ever been with 953 students and where playing teams 2 or 3 times there size back in the day (I had a little over 800 kids in the school when i graduated in 2008).  Other teams always would know they would be sore after a game but depth took over and never won a Championship until Greeneville played in the classification the TSSAA actually assigned them. You had names like Dustin Moore (1993 Mr Football for 3a and who Phillip Fulmer said was one of the greatest athletes he ever recruited), James "Mud Turtle" Mayes, Brigham Lyons, Byron Gillespie, Frankie Debusk (National Champion Qb at Furman with GQ), Jasmine Lowery, Cody Baugh, The Greenway Brothers, Joe Watson (Furman), etc.  Now the cultural is from the Pee Wee league up and you grow up as a young kid wanting to wear the Greene and White.  Here is a really good link when it comes to anything Greeneville Football related. https://greenevillefootball.com/   I also don't coach anymore.  Z told me i was to smart with how the school systems are ran these days and ended up going into real estate in Knoxville which has been a great decision for my life.
    • Yes, they will. I'm wondering what kinds of strides Sale Creek will make heading into the second season under Coach Fitz.
    • No yellow stripes on the rug last night. Biggest crowd I’ve seen at 825 since the alco debacle.
