Keith Hodge steps down at Dresden...

There have been all kinds of rumors going around about other coaches "applying" for the job. The job has not even been posted yet & I doubt that it will be until Dresden basketball season is over. The large majority of community members & players only want one man for the job & that is Chad Hodge. I would personally hate to be a coach coming in to Dresden as head coach behind the Hodge Bros. They have set the bar high for Dresden Football.

In recent years the word has been that Coady wanted out. He reportedly applied for any good job that came open. Not sure if he still feels that way or not.

That wasn't a rumor, that was true. Coady interviewed at a couple of places over the last few years. He is trying to "bump" up his retirement and by finishing his career at a higher paid salary, he could accomplish that.

Seriously, I hope they give the brother a shot at it or he will be in Murray before the school year is over getting ready. I keep hearing Lampkins too.

Chad Hodge should get the job.. End of story. If not, then it could be a huge mistake.

On a side note, however, I believe the players that are there now will buy in to whoever is coaching and their philosophy. Coaches run the program, but players run the team and ultimately decide the outcome. Hard work pays off no matter who is coaching as long as the players are level-minded and cooperative and work hard day in and day out.

Should be interesting to see how this whole coaching dilemma plays out.

Go Lions!

I don't think people on here realize Chad's offensive background is more impressive than his defensive background.  He was the offensive coordinator for years at Henry Co. before he came to Dresden and they averaged in the upper 30's and 40's and went to 3 straight semifinal games in 4A and 5A.  He has developed a pretty impressive resume over the last decade.  If you guys aren't smart enough to hire him as your head coach then we will take him here in Huntingdon.  With him and Swenson together we might win a few State Championships in a row.  Schools are going to go after him if you guys pass him up.

I find it curious that Dresden did not try to give Hodge a raise in order to keep him at Dresden.

Amen brother. I'd like to see him calling the offense and give the D over to coach Deberry.

For the sake of accuracy only, I feel I need to challenge the above . I have the highest regard for Chad as a teacher and a coach but he was never OC at Henry County. That position was held by Brian Wyatt during Gaddis's whole time here in Paris. Chad worked intimately with the offense during that time but never held the OC position.

I'm not arguing with you Olddevil but that is your opinion.  Titles arent everything.  Chad has worked both sides of the ball with the success no one else in this area can compare.   He is a special guy that someone is fixing to get.  How is HC shaping up this winter/spring?  I heard something about one of your coaches having a severe illness and is getting treated for it.  How is he doing?

FF '70, I said "for the sake of accuracy only". I,too, think he would make you an excellent head coach and hope that he gets it if he wants it.However, that's only the opinion of an old man from Henry County and not worth much. Over here, we are working hard. We have the potential to be very, very good and make another long run in the playoffs. But ,as you know, there's many a slip twixt cup and lip !! The coach you mentioned is going through a tough ordeal but we pray for, hope, and expect a full recovery.

    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
    • I would not put too much stock into the UH over Eagleville. From what I understand they were pretty banged up in that tourney. Catcher was out, they were throwing pretty deep in their bullpen and a few key players were beat up in their infield. Sounds like they are pretty healthy heading into the district tournament. Look at their schedule, they played some really good teams.
