Cheatham County @ CPA: Class AA Sectional Battle

Recommended Posts

If you had beaten East, it could have been in a bigger venue.  Sorry - I couldn't resist.

Nerd, you are getting off topic, away from keeping it about the game and the kids.  You think the Cubs fans and players want to be reminded about the loss to East even when accompanied with a smiley face and a sorry - I doubt it.  Yes, you coud resist, but you chose not to.  One of these days you might realize it just isn't that big a deal to be the host when your success is predicated on multiple basketball transfers which is why the possibility of a three peat is not really impressive though I know you like to think so.  Guess in that situation just difficult for everyone to continue being a gracious host.  No, not lurking or trolling at all (other adjectives you like to use that have nothing to do with keeping it about the "game").  Simply click on a thread I have interest in yet am subject to a post inconsistent with a standard you say you want to set.  Let's try again and maybe this time truly being accountable without justifying...

Sportsnerd I usually like your posts because you try to discuss facts and leave the trash talk out of it and yes I know you may defend your comment as not being trash talk, but you and other CPA fans just open yourselves up for more of the same talk of your team being nothing more than a glorified AAU team. The next time you get on your soapbox about keeping posts about facts don't get defensive about publics calling you out for what you are.

Great post!  CPA will end up being one of the big reasons publics and privates split.

I dislike having the game on a "non-school day" if it is indeed what happens.  I would like to see them move the game to Thursday night at 7:00 PM and play it at that time.  If the game is played tomorrow it will still hurt the crowd numbers.  Many of the backroads in Ashland City are very bad.

They need to move it to a bigger venue.

I agree. However, CPA basketball likes having every advantage possible.  Puts them that much closer to their third AAU golden idol.

I am for one glad to read this post. This is a true representation of the entire CPA culture. They put up a front of we are only trying to be a good servant in the community where the real motivation behind closed doors is to win at all costs from the top down. Yes I agree this attitude will be the reason for a complete split. CPA folks, get your check books out, getting ready to get much more expensive than in recent years when you compete with Ensworth, BA, MBA to name a few. If you decide to stay down in class and not go against the big boys then sports nerd can get on here and brag about the beat downs they will be giving Mt Juliet Christian, etc......

WOW! Lighten up folks! SO TOUCHY! I have NOT trashed talked CC, in fact I have congratulated them all season and even stated they could easily beat CPA if they play well and CPA doesn't. My post was in response to people complaining that CC had to play on the road, criticizing the CPA gym size, lamenting the weather, etc.. I simply pointed out that when you lose you have to take the consequences, which in this case is playing where you have to play according to the format. IT IS A FACT that CC had a chance to play at home and didn't win. CPA had nothing to do with that, East did.

I also pointed out that if they had won, they could possibly have played CPA at a big gym - MTSU. CC may still play at MTSU, but they won't play CPA there because only one will go. You guys are so super sensitive to posts it is ridiculous. Pull up your skirts, Nancys.

Hedahe, everyone knows your venom comes out no matter what someone posts. So, here is my challenge to you. All of my posts are on file. Go back and find ONE where I bragged about a beatdown on another team. While you are at it, you will find several of my posts commending CC (and other teams) for a great season, and stating that they could beat CPA if they played well. Have a great day. I look forward to you backing up your claim with my posts.

If CC had beaten East and Cascade beaten CPA, would CC have given up the home game against CPA because of gym size or weather? NO - and they shouldn't be expected to and no CPA fan would get on here and complain about playing at CC.

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
