If you're just going by this year, Gibson Co. isn't doing too bad in their first year in Single A. 5-0 and 3 of those complete game shutouts with 1 no hitter mixed in there as well. Wins were against Union City, South Fulton, McKenzie, Greenfield and Lake Co. It's early still, but those are pretty solid wins.

Boyd Buchanan is probably the top Class A team in Chattanooga area this year. They are playing a real tough early schedule against all comers (so don't be fooled by their record), which should prepare them well for the post-season. Their pitching staff may be the deepest in the area, and many are underclassmen. Solid players at every position.  They have their own thread in here with a link to a robust website talking about the team, players, etc. A very informative website.

Last year's Class A State Runner Up, SIlverdale Baptist from Chattanooga lost their top 3 pitchers (including MTSU & Chattanooga State signees, as well as their 4 year starter at SS), but they have some good arms returning as well. They have a couple of starters out right now with injuries, and I don't think they are as deep as Boyd (all the way around), but they are a pretty good program.  They probably will be fighting for 2nd place in the Region with a few other strong programs. How far they go will depend on pitching and how some of the new starters respond in their new roles this year.

Thanks for the kind words! I would include Whitwell and South Pitt as teams that could get to the boro as well.

    • The people need our help!
    • Lol when was last time they won region or got past the 3 rd round.
    • Gravedigger gotta finish filling the hole before hitting 40 East. May need a new Yellow Shirt play signaler on the Stones. And apparently a new strength coach now. Cicadas must've got shaken out of the bushes in Donelson. Hopefully the mower man sticks around to keep DG field looking pristine. Maybe new OC can call in a favor to his PGA friends that knows a thing or two about being green during the season. The heat is on soon. Bring in the 2 way freak Iceman and cool things off. He knows a thing or 2 about wildcats. Gotta take our talents South soon for Nationals. Don't step on my blue suede shoes.
