Sorry that you are annoyed but how many players does Cumberland have in the NFL? It is not big time football, it is mostly local players with a few other guys sprinkled in that want to keep playing past high school. The talent level is not that great and Maryville was bigger on the line than a lot of small schools so I would say they could give them a game for sure

More nonsense.

Once again your wrong, You just contradicted yourself by making more false assumptions, but when other people give their input it's automatically wrong? I don't mesh well with biased egotistical posters. Edited by MJGOLDENBEARS

Ok so they have 2 guys that signed that is wonderful, still does not change the fact that is not big time football. We are completely on a different ace from where we started but if you like we can keep going about Cumberland I do not care. Anyway I say again that outside of HHS 9AAA is down this year and that is not opinion that is a fact.

That is a true statement! So is 9-AAA being 3-1 against Rutherford Co last year. Now if you would have stated 9-AAA is not as good as Oakland or Blackman, then we have no argument. Also remember schools with 2000+ enrollments are getting compared to schools with much smaller ones. Sometimes size does matter.

If anybody had lost what little credibility they had, it's you. If you truely believe a Maryville would beat, or much less compete with players that are bigger, and mostly 23 years old, you have lost it. I can guarantee you could bring the Maryville posters in here & I bet you they will agree. You're talking about a team that has been the most winning college football program in TN in the past decade. They beat two NCAA division 2 teams last year very handily. So you think Maryville can play Division 2 college football? I remember a while back when Maryville High posters were saying that they think that their local Maryville College (Division 3 football) could more than likely beat Maryville High. Cumberland would beat Maryville College VERY easily being that they play bigger football than Division 3....it is definitely apparent that you haven't played college football in your lifetime or you would've never said a statement like that. High School to College football is a big transition, just like the transition from college to the Pros. Can't believe you actually tried making that comparison........

Ok now you're talking about a D-1 team, shouldn't they be able to beat CU? So I'm sure Maryville would do just fine against TN Tech in your mind right??? You're really reaching far now pointing out that loss. Last year was their worst finish in quite a few years, and they went 7-4. Still a pretty good season in the college world.

    • Never said I thought it was a smart decision. I'm scratching my head at it too.
    • If he wanted to play QB he should have either went to Heritage or William Blount and had a real good chance there. In stead he'll be exactly what he was going to be at Maryville. They already know who their QB is going to be in 2025 and it ain't going to be him.
    • Easier said than done. The man who ran for 250+ yards and 3TDs is gonna be back….and a lot bigger.
    • plus it removes the pressure around winning.
    • You are correct.   The teacher's pay scale is virtually the same in Knox County, now, as it is at Oak Ridge.   The coaching supplements are still higher at Oak Ridge, from what I was told, but not a huge difference.   Plus, Rusty is going from a position coach to an OC position, which is what he was at South Doyle and where his comfort zone is.  And from a special education teaching slot to a PE teaching slot.  There is a lot of positivity in that move without even considering the coaching aspect.   Anybody who sees something negative here is just looking for negativity to begin with.  But some live in that world.   Really good hire for Brent.  He now has two experienced and quality coordinators and can concentrate on being a head football coach.
